On October 3, 2018, the USRCC hosted its 8th Annual Welcome Reception Honoring Russian and CIS Delegations to Breakbulk Americas 2018. The event took place in Four Season Hotel, Houston TX.
The reception was attended by more than 80 business representatives including
leading experts in shipping, transportation and logistics, real estate development, suppliers, investors,
executives from oil and gas industry, and Government officials. Among others, the attendees included representatives from the Port of Philadelphia, Antwerp Port Authority, Port of Houston, Radiant Maritime India Ltd., PENN Warehousing and Distribution,
NUCO Logistics, Inc., GTG Technology Group,
FR8AGENT Logistics,
Jones, UNI International, NEK, Atlantic RO RO, CISN Shipping Group, Amrus Logistics, Bahri Logistics, NOV, Wolseley Industrial Group, and many others.
The audience was greeted by Hon. Alexander Pisarev, Consul General of the Russian Federation and Mr. Will Whitehouse, Senior Manager, Trade Development, Port of Houston.
This year's event also included educational session on the latest trends and developments in shipping and logistics. P
resentations were made by Mr. Nikolay Belikov,
Operations Director, JSC "NEK" and Ashish Gadnis, Co-Founder and CEO, BanQu.
Mr. Belikov provided the audience with an overview of the Eurasian Economic Union ("EAEU") and included
the information regarding current
EAEU membership, statistical trade data, highlighted
key changes in EAEU Customs Code as well as
negative and positive aspects of the EAEU implementation.
Mr. Ashish Gadnis's presentation was focused on the blockchain technology in shipping.
Mr. Gadnis showed application of the blockchain technology in shipping and logistics, explained its impact on
efficiency and transparency of supply chain, including storage, delivery and payment,
and presented new
solutions for businesses that traditional models were not able to provide. Due to the complexity of today's current supply chain, there was a lot of interest in how blockchain could transform the logistics industry.
Closing remarks were made by Mr. Rick Shannon, President of Atlantic Ro Ro.
Mr. Shannon has more than 40 years in the transportation industry and he shared with the USRCC
members and guests his unique insight into U.S.-Russia business relations and opportunities.

Lukoil and Eni to sign contract on JV in Mexico next week
Tass.com, October 4, 2018: Lukoil and Italy's Eni will sign the final document on the creation of a consortium to work in Mexico next week, head of Lukoil Vagit Alekperov told reporters on the Russian Energy Week.
"The joint venture comprises four blocks that we and they (Eni - TASS) won at the last tenders. There are no reserves there but these are promising four blocks. Of course, our company is interested in creating such a consortium; we will be operators on one of the blocks and Eni will operate other three. The shares in the JV are being discussed and most likely that the final document on the creation of this consortium will be signed next week, "he said.

Gazprom and OMV Signed a Memorandum on Strategic Cooperation
Oilvoice.com, October 4, 2018: Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, and Rainer Seele, Chairman of the Executive Board of OMV, today signed at the 8th St. Petersburg International Gas Forum a Memorandum on Strategic Cooperation.
The document envisages the creation of a Joint Coordinating Committee on collaboration in the natural gas sector, both upstream and downstream, science and technology as well as staff training.

Russian oil production jumps to post-Soviet high
Rt.com, October 3, 2018: Russia is ramping up crude oil output after OPEC and other countries agreed to ease production curbs. In September, Russia produced a record amount of oil in its modern history.
The country's production rose to 11.36 million barrels per day (bpd) in September and exceeded the record high 11.247 million bpd hit in October 2016, Russian Energy Ministry said. The previous record served as Russia's baseline for a deal with OPEC to reduce production.

Russian Export Center opens representative office in India

Rosatom in Talks on Building Several Dozens of NPP Units in Countries - CEO
Sputniknews.com, October 3, 2018: The Russian State Nuclear Energy Corporation Rosatom is negotiating possible construction of several dozens of nuclear power plant (NPP) units in different countries, Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev said on Wednesday.
"Negotiations are underway on several dozen [NPP units]," Likhachev said at the panel session of the Russian Energy Week forum.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that Rosatom would soon start the construction of two power units of the Paks-2 nuclear power plant (NPP), this nuclear power plant already produces 40 percent of the electricity consumed in Hungary.

Morocco, Russia agree to boost agricultural cooperation

Aziz Akhannouch, Morocco's minister of agriculture, fisheries, rural development, water and forests, and Russian Minister of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev discussed ways to develop bilateral cooperation in agriculture on the sidelines of the 7th session of the Moroccan-Russian Joint Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation Committee.
Russia attaches great importance to the evolution of the seed market in Morocco, Akhannouch said, adding that Morocco is willing to promote the export of several agricultural products, including vegetables and fruits to Russia.

India, Russia to sign economic agreements, discuss rupee-rouble payment mechanism

Russia works on visa-free regime with Caribbean countries
Tass.com, October 4, 2018: Russia is preparing an agreement on the mutual exchange of visa requirements with the Caribbean states, said Alexander Shchetinin, Director of the Latin American Department at the Russian Foreign Ministry, in his speech at an expert discussion in the Valdai Discussion Club on Thursday.
Russia already signed an agreement on the mutual abolishment of visas with 24 out of 33 Latin American states, he said. "We will continue this work. We've got whole South America visa-free, along with almost all Central America, and we are working on the Caribbean states now," the diplomat said.

RUSSIA AND CHINA WANT TO BUILD A BASE ON THE MOON TOGETHER
Newsweek.com, October 2, 2018: Russia and China have both expressed interest in building a base on the moon, and Moscow's space chief said the two may pool their resources to make the ambitious project a reality.
Dmitry Rogozin, director general of Russia's Roscosmos State Space Corp. and the former deputy defense minister, said that the Russian and Chinese space programs were considering working jointly to establish a lunar station. As Russia prepares to meet its 2021 deadline for the country's first unmanned lunar mission, a growing relationship with China has presented new opportunities as Moscow's ties to the U.S. continue to worsen.

Kazakhstan, Russia to change conditions of petroleum products supply
Azernews.az, October 3, 2018: Kazakhstan and Russia plan to sign a protocol of changes to the bilateral agreement on fuel supplies, which will allow Astana to start exporting light oil products, Kazakh Energy Minister Kanat Bozumbayev said within the framework of the oil forum.
In the course of the Russian Energy Week forum, a protocol on amending the agreement on cooperation in the fuel and energy complex will be signed on October 3 in Moscow, according to Bozumbayev.
A source in the government of Kazakhstan told Reuters that the parties should exclude clauses banning the export of light oil products from Kazakhstan, but at the same time Astana could lose preferential deliveries of oil products from Russia on an indicative balance.

Azerbaijani exporters to receive support for their products' recognition in Russia

ДОХОДЫ РФ ОТ ЭКСПОРТА НЕФТИ В ЯНВАРЕ-АВГУСТЕ ВЫРОСЛИ НА 35,5%, ГАЗА - НА 30%
1k.com. ua, 4 октября, 2018: Доходы России от экспорта нефти в январе-августе 2018 года выросли на 35,5% по сравнению с соответствующим периодом прошлого года - до 82,4 миллиарда долларов, свидетельствуют данные Федеральной таможенной службы (ФТС).
Общий объем экспорта нефти за указанный период составил 169,18 миллиона тонн (снижение на 1%).
При этом в августе Россия нарастила экспорт нефти на 3,2% по сравнению с июлем - до 21,7 миллиона тонн. Доходы выросли на 1,5% - до 11 миллиардов долларов.

Россия планирует в ближайшие годы нарастить добычу рыбы на 10%
Tass.ru, 3 октября, 2018: Росрыболовство планирует в 2018 году перейти рубеж добычи водных биоресурсов в 5 млн т и в ближайшие три-пять лет нарастить добычу еще на 10%, заявил в четверг на пленарном заседании XIII Международного конгресса рыбаков во Владивостоке заместитель руководителя Федерального агентства по рыболовству (Росрыболовство) Петр Савчук.
"Традиционный "драйвер" развития отрасли - уровень добычи. По итогам 2018 года мы ожидаем превзойти рубеж в 5 млн т, а в течение ближайших трех-пяти лет нарастить показатель еще на 10% до 5,5 млн т, главным образом за счет освоения массовых подходов сардины иваси и скумбрии, а также наращивания присутствия в районах мирового океана", - сказал Савчук.

Экспорт необработанных алмазов из России в первом полугодии вырос
1sn.ru, 5 октября, 2018: Экспорт необработанных алмазов из РФ в первом полугодии 2018 года составил 27,06 млн карат, что на 2,3% выше, чем годом ранее, следует из опубликованных Минфином данных сертификатов Кимберлийского процесса.
В частности, во втором квартале этого года экспорт составил 13,42 млн карат, что на 9,3% выше показателя аналогичного периода прошлого года (12,3 млн карат), сообщает
Finmarket.
"АЛРОСА", контролирующая на данный момент около 90% российской алмазодобычи, в первом полугодии реализовала 22,4 млн карат алмазов (на 8% меньше результата января-июня 2017 года).
Добыча алмазов в России за первое полугодие, по данным Минфина, составила 20,19 млн карат, что на 3% меньше показателя годичной давности.
