Sister Cities International was created by President Eisenhower to help build the road to enduring peace and prosperity between people from different communities around the globe.  Each year, the founding organization, Sister Cities International, selects a new host city for the prestigious Annual Conference, which highlights Sister Cities' mission. Houston has been selected to host the 2019 Sister Cities International Annual Conference. Sister Cities Houston is a nonprofit, volunteer-based organization created to develop and implement programs and activities that connect the cities on mutually beneficial matters.

Houston Sister Cities Houston include 18 international cities: Abu Dhabi, Baku, Basrah, Chiba,  Grampian Region, Guayaquil, Huelva, Istanbul, Karachi, Leipzig, Luanda, Nice, Perth, Shenzhen, Stavanger, Taipei, Tampico and Tyumen.

Baker Hughes, a GE company Announces October 2018 Rig Counts

Businesswire.com, November 7, 2018: Baker Hughes, a GE company (NYSE:BHGE) announced today that the Baker Hughes international rig count for October 2018 was 1,017, up 13 from the 1,004 counted in September 2018, and up 66 from the 951 counted in October 2017. The international offshore rig count for October 2018 was 207, up 3 from the 204 counted in September 2018, and up 3 from the 204 counted in October 2017. Read more...
Emerson Increases Quarterly Cash Dividend

Russia-China trade turnover to hit $100 billion in 2018

Rt.com, November 7, 2018: The volume of mutual trade between Russia and China may reach $100 billion by the end of 2018 with the figure expected to double in the years ahead, according to Andrey Slepnev, Chief Executive of the Russian Export Center. "Russia's exports to China totaled $26 billion in the first half of the current year, marking 43 percent growth compared to the same period a year ago," the official said, stressing that the institution expects the figure to increase up to $54 billion at year-end.  Read more...
Russia's largest coal port hikes exports 6%

Hellenicshippingnews.com, November 8, 2018: Russia's largest coal terminal at Vostochny exported 20.4m tonnes in January-October, around 6% higher than in the same period last year, amid strong Asian demand, port authority data showed. The increase at the port, on the Sea of Japan, reflected a growing Asia-Pacific appetite for Russian material, in particular from South Korea, which accounted for 34% - or 6.9m tonnes - of the total.  Read more...

Pakistan-Russia trade stood at $ 478.03 million in 2017-18

Dnd.com.pk, November 5, 2018: The total bilateral trade between Pakistan and Russia stood at US $ 478.03 million in year 2017-18 with a trade balance of $ US 184.20 million, the National Assembly was informed (Pakistan-Russia trade). In reply to question raised by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) Uzma Riaz, the Minister for Commerce and Textile informed the House that the exports of Pakistan to Russia during this period were recorded to be US $ 146.92 million whereas the imports from Russia to Pakistan were recorded to be US $ 331.12 million.  Read more...
Russian FM: Trade Between Russia, Spain Growing Steadily

Sputniknews.com, November 5, 2018: Trade between Russia and Spain continued to grow this year after reaching $5.3 billion in 2017, making Spain an important partner for Russia in Europe, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said. "We regard Madrid as an important partner in Europe. Regular political contacts at the highest level have been contributing to an atmosphere of friendship in our bilateral ties. Trade has been growing steadily, rising by 20.6 percent to $5.3 billion as of end 2017. This positive trend has continued into this year," he told Spain's El Pais newspaper.  Read more...
Russia's int'l student enrolment on the up

Thepienews.com, November 8, 2018: International students in Russia are up 40% since 2013, according to a statement by Russian deputy minister of science and higher education Marina Borovskaya  reported by Russian State Agency TASS, adding that the country could aspire to host 425,000 international students by 2024. "Even today, we can state that our universities have become more appealing," she said, according to TASS' report.  Read more...

Siberian scientists make healthy candies for Arctic residents

Tass.com, November 6, 2018: Scientists of the Tyumen Industrial University made candies, which improve metabolism and memory. Special healthy products are valuable for people, living in Arctic regions, the University's press service said. "For making new functional food the University's scientists use only natural raw materials grown in the Tyumen region - wild plants, berries, honey, nuts, vegetables, dairy products," the press service said. Belarus remains Russia's fourth biggest trading partner

Eng.belta.by, November 8, 2018: Belarus is Russia's fourth biggest trading partner in the world and the first in the CIS in January-September 2018, BelTA learned from the Russian Federal Customs Service. Uzbekistan, Russia eye to switch to settlements in national currencies

Azernews.az, November 8, 2018: Russia and Uzbekistan plan to develop mutual trade and increase trade turnover by $1 billion, Uzbek media reported citing the Federation Council of the Russian Federation. The MPs of both countries discussed bilateral cooperation at the negotiations in the Federation Council. Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko accepted the invitation of her colleagues to visit Tashkent. The visit is expected to take place next year. Last year, Russian-Uzbek mutual trade reached $5 billion. Matviyenko at a meeting with her colleagues noted that Russian business never had such interest in Uzbekistan.  Read more...

Россия увеличила экспорт СПГ на 63%

Ria.ru, 8 ноября, 2018: Россия в январе-сентябре увеличила экспорт сжиженного природного газа (СПГ) на 63% по сравнению с аналогичным периодом 2017 года - до 29,2 миллиона кубометров, а экспорт природного газа - на 8,4%, до 165,9 миллиарда кубометров, свидетельствуют данные Федеральной таможенной службы (ФТС). Доходы РФ от экспорта СПГ в январе-сентябре выросли на 80,8% по сравнению с аналогичным периодом 2017 года, достигнув 4,1 миллиарда долларов.  Читать далее...
