USRCC's "2nd Annual Healthcare Roundtable and Luncheon" with the Moscow Healthcare Delegation and Welcome Reception


In connection with the Agreement of Cooperation between the City of Houston and the City of Moscow signed in 2007  and to strengthen the cooperation between the two cities, the U.S. -Russia Chamber of Commerce hosted "by invitation only" 2nd Annual Healthcare Roundtable and Luncheon with the Moscow Healthcare Delegation and the Welcome Reception. Both events took place on November 13, 2018 at Granduca Hotel Houston, TX.

The Moscow Healthcare Delegation included Deputy Head of the Department for External Affairs and International Relations, City of Moscow, Head of International Relations and Protocol Office, Department for External Affairs and International Relations, City of Moscow, First Deputy Head Department of Construction, City of Moscow, First Deputy Head, Moscow Healthcare Department and State Secretary, City of Moscow, General Director, Moscow International Medical Cluster, First Deputy Director, Moscow International Medical Cluster and Medical Director, Moscow International Medical Cluster. 

The main goal of the Healthcare Roundtable and the visit of the delegation in general was to discuss cooperation between the Moscow International Medical Cluster ("MIMC") and the Texas Medical Center and its member institutions, international healthcare exchange and management training programs, investment and partnership opportunities. The attendees included C-level, experienced healthcare professionals, s enior level executives from medical and biotech institutions, heads of departments of medicine and centers of bioscience and bioengineering and biomedicine labs from Texas Medical Center, BioHouston, Baylor College of Medicine, University of Texas, Rice University, the University of Texas, School of Public Health, Inpro Medical, Harris County Medical Society, CycloSam Therapeutics, Fannin Innovation Studio, Netnoids Rx Laboratories, Proxima Clinical Research, Adroit Surgical, and Administration of Harris County.

During the Roundtable, Mr. Mikhail Yugai, General Director of the Moscow International Medical Cluster provided the audience with its overview, its core activities, current infrastructure projects, diversified investment portfolio and during the Q&A sessions discussed some of the possible ways of collaboration with the U.S. universities, TMC, and various healthcare institutions.

The Welcome Reception was held in the evening of November 13, 2018 and was attended by the  USRCC members and guests including  healthcare professionals, academia, representatives of Harris County and the Texas Department of Agriculture who came to extend their warm welcome to the Moscow Healthcare Delegation. 

During the entire visit the Moscow Healthcare delegation had a full agenda, which included several site tours at the Texas Medical Center, TMCx, Ben Taub Hospital, and UT Health School of Dentistry, and  meetings with the executive teams of the Texas Medical Center, Institute of Innovation, the University of Houston, and C-level executives of the biotech startup companies.


"The 2nd Healthcare Roundtable provided a collegial bilateral forum to discuss new clinical, research and education opportunities of common interest. With a focus on cooperation between the Texas Medical Center and the Moscow International Medical Cluster, there were productive and interesting discussions and exchange of ideas. The meeting helped build a foundation for further positive interactions."

IPSCO Tubulars Opens Coating Facility in Wilder, Kentucky

Energymanagertoday.com, November 15, 2018: Shell has formed a partnership with Sparkfund and GridPoint to launch a new offering called Shell Energy Inside. This subscription approach to smart buildings combines technologies such as HVAC, lighting, energy storage, electric vehicle charging, and building controls with retail power supply and demand response, the companies say. The Shell Energy Inside bundled solution is part of  Shell New Energies, the company's division for low carbon solutions. Thailand plans to boost trade with Russia to $10 bln by 2020

Tass.com, November 15, 2018: Thailand's Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha will try to increase the volume of bilateral trade with Russia to $10 billion (330 billion baht) by 2020, the Bangkok Post reported on Thursday citing Deputy Government Spokesperson Lieutenant General Werachon Sukondhapatipak. He added that during separate meetings with New Zealand PM Jacinda Ardern, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chilean leader Sebastian Pinera Echenique, the Thai premier focused on cooperation in trade and investment.  Read more...

Theloadstar.co.uk, November 14, 2018: Rail connectivity between China and Russia is continuing to grow, with several new services launched. Heading the list is Russian Railways, which this month launched a pilot route between Kaliningrad and Chengdu, and yesterday a Shandong-Moscow service. Chief executive of RZD Logistics - a subsidiary of Russian Railways - Viacheslav Valentik said the Shandong-Moscow route "symbolised further development of cooperation with China".  Read more...
Malaysia-Russia trade can improve

Themalaysianreserve.com, November 14, 2018: Russia believes that more can be done to improve its bilateral trade with Malaysia, said Vladimir Putin. The Russian president expressed his happiness over the significant rise in trade between the two countries in the last eight months, especially after Pakatan Harapan's historic election victory in May. "Ties between our two countries have been developing and doing well. New MOU to boost Asean-Russia trade

Straitstimes.com, November 15, 2018: A new agreement signed between Asean and the Eurasian Economic Commission yesterday is expected to contribute to trade, investment and economic expansion between South-east Asian countries and member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). This comes as trade between the two blocs stood at US$35.7 billion (S$48.7 billion) last year, an increase of 40 per cent from 2016.  Read more...
Thailand Seeking Additional LNG Imports From Russia, Canada - Energy Minister

Sputniknews.com, November 14, 2018: Thailand, which faces a natural gas shortage, plans to increase its imports of the liquefied natural gas (LNG) and sees Russia and Canada as potential new suppliers, Thailand's Energy Minister Siri Jirapongphan told Sputnik. "We are planning to increase import of LNG from various countries. We are now importing from the Middle East, Australia, the United States, South Asia. We are looking for additional import from Canada, and various other countries. Russia says Singapore's Wilmar may invest in soybean production there

Kazakhstan, Russia to develop bilateral tourism, make border-crossing procedures more comfortable

Astanatimes.com, November 15, 2018: Kazakhstan's five-year tourism development programme will attract up to 13 million visitors and create more than 60,000 jobs, said Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev Nov. 9 at the 15th forum on Kazakhstan-Russia interregional cooperation in Petropavlovsk. Approximately 70 bilateral documents were signed at the event. The countries agreed to strengthen tourism, transport and logistics infrastructure coordination; develop road and railway transportation; study tourism opportunities; provide comfortable border control; improve border-crossing infrastructure and simplify the visa regime with Caspian countries.  Read more...
Belarus, Russia's Irkutsk Oblast agree on joint ventures

Eng.belta.by, November 15, 2018: Belarus and Russia's Irkutsk Oblast have agreed to set up joint companies in various sectors, Irkutsk Oblast Governor Sergei Levchenko said after the meeting with Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko on 15 November, BelTA has learned. According to the governor, all the previously made agreements to boost bilateral cooperation are being successfully implemented. The mutual trade has been on the rise, with constantly increasing supplies of Belarusian goods, including food products, to the market of the Russian region.  Read more...
Uzbekistan, Russia discuss economic cooperation prospects

Azernews.az, November 12, 2018: Russian and Uzbek senators, representatives of the executive authorities, experts, entrepreneurs discussed the implementation of agreements in the trade and economic sphere. The Russian-Uzbek round table was held in Moscow on November 6-8. Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Nigmatilla Yuldashev declared that at the First Forum of Interregional Cooperation between the Russia and Uzbekistan, held in October in Tashkent, more than a 1,000 guests from Russia participated, contracts worth more than $ 2 billion were signed.  Read more...

Россия увеличила экспорт пшеницы в Европу

Рост несырьевого экспорта поддержит силу рубля

Rg.ru, 15 ноября, 2018: Россия за три квартала этого года увеличила экспорт несырьевых неэнергетических товаров на 17 процентов по сравнению с тем же периодом прошлого года, сообщили в Российском экспортном центре (РЭЦ). Это снижает зависимость рубля от колебаний нефтяных цен, считают эксперты. На стальных полуфабрикатах, листовом прокате, трубах Россия заработала за девять месяцев почти 29 миллиардов долларов, на 7 миллиардов больше, чем год назад. Экспорт продукции машиностроения (турбодвигателей, газовых турбин, автомобилей и так далее) принес еще 20 миллиардов долларов, а поставки продовольствия, химикатов и лесобумажных товаров за рубеж - 44,6 миллиарда.   Читать далее...
Россия в 2,3 раза увеличила экспорт продукции АПК в Иорданию

Dairynews.ru, 13 ноября, 2018: Об этом сообщил Министр сельского хозяйства России Дмитрий Патрушев в ходе заседания Межправительственной Российско - Иорданской комиссии по развитию торгово-экономического научно-технического сотрудничества, которое состоялось 13 ноября в Москве. По словам Дмитрия Патрушева, сельское хозяйство является ключевым направлением двустороннего сотрудничества России и Иордании в торгово-экономической сфере. По итогам 9 месяцев текущего года сельскохозяйственный товарооборот между странами вырос более чем в 2 раза по сравнению с аналогичным периодом прошлого года и составил 110,8 млн долларов США. «РЖД Логистика» «привязывает» к России новые китайские провинции. Но не все, а промышленно развитые

Logirus.ru, 14 ноября, 2018: АО «РЖД Логистика» расширила географию железнодорожных перевозок из Китая в Россию, отправив 13 ноября контейнерный поезд из города Цзыбо провинции Шаньдун, сообщает пресс-служба компании. До станции «Цзыбо» 36 сорокафутовых контейнеров с товарами народного потребления, оборудованием и техникой были доставлены грузовиками. Там их перегрузили на поезд, который через погранпереходы Замын-Ууд (Монголия) и Наушки (РФ) через две недели прибудет на станцию «Селятино» Московской области.
