The 10th Annual Welcome Reception Honoring Delegations from 
Russia, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan to the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC 2019)

 
On May 7th, 2019, the USRCC held its 10th Annual Reception Honoring Delegations from Russia, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan to the Offshore Technology Conference at Hotel ZAZA, Houston, TX.  

This year the reception was attended by about 250 international business professionals including leading experts and executives from oil and gas industry, banking, shipping, transportation and logistics companies, translation companies, suppliers, investors, and Government officials. 

Among others, the attendees included representatives from Microsoft, Baker Hughes, a GE Company, Chevron Corporation, Turkish Airlines, Dunbar Harder, Parker Drilling, OFS International, ConocoPhillips, Emerson, BICO Drilling Tools, Drillmec, Atlantic Ro Ro, Volga-Dnepr, Salamander Solutions, Radix Digital Engineering, Gazprom Marketing & Trading USA, JPMorgan Chase, Wells Fargo Advisors, American Petroleum Institute, Neftegaz Holding America, Wood Group, Merichem Company, Miller and Lents LTD, Titan Oil Recovery, GustoMSC, an NOV company, IHS Markit, University of Houston, City of Houston, Consulate General of the Russian Federation, and many others.

Welcome remarks were made by Jack Christie, Council Member, At-Large 5, who greeted the audience on behalf the City of Houston. Mr. Christie's remarks were followed by the speech made by Alexander Pisarev, Consul General of the Russian Federation, who welcomed the CIS delegations to the Offshore Technology Conference 2019. Remarks made by the Government officials were followed by the speech made by  Mr.  David Gadzhimirzaev, Fullstream Director, Baker Hughes, a GE Company, a Silver Sponsor of the event. 

This year's reception has also included the raffle sponsored by Turkish Airlines. Mr. Yigit Avci, General Manger, Houston, Turkish Airlines,  welcomed the attendees, congratulated the USRCC on its 10th Anniversary and made a presentation about the company and its new airport in Istanbul.

Mr. Hogan has more than thirty-six years of Operations and Executive experience. His career started in Kingsville, Texas where he spent sixteen years with Exxon Company International in various supervisory roles. 
He then worked two years with ENI/Agip Petroleum as Operations Manager and VP of Well Operations, nine years with Devon Energy Corporation as the International Operations Manager and VP of International Well Engineering, and one year with HRT America as Vice President of Drilling. 

As one of the founding Executives of PanAtlantic Exploration Company, Mr. Hogan originally served as Sr. Vice President - Operations with responsibility for global drilling, completion and production activity, HS&E, contracts / procurement and operations geology.  In March 2016, Mr. Hogan was promoted to Chief Operating Officer in addition to assuming the responsibilities of President and Chief Executive Officer. 

In April 2017, Mr. Hogan became General Manager and CEO of Lukoil International Upstream West in Houston, Texas. He has worked on six of seven continents in countries including Australia, Bolivia, Brazil, Chad, Ghana, Malaysia, Thailand and Trinidad.

Trade Mission to Moscow and St. Petersburg Economic Forum
June 2-8, 2019

The U.S.-Russia Chamber of Commerce (USRCC) invites you to participate in a Trade mission to the    St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. Participants will have an opportunity to meet Russian government officials and some of the most influential leaders in U.S.-Russia trade and investment relations. The USRCC will coordinate private meetings, an exclusive CEO Roundtable and introductions, in addition to attending the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPEIF).

Baker Hughes, a GE company Announces April 2019 Rig Counts

Finance.yahoo.com, May 7, 2019: Baker Hughes, a GE company ( BHGE) announced today that the Baker Hughes international rig count for April 2019 was 1,062, up 23 from the 1,039 counted in March 2019, and up 84 from the 978 counted in April 2018. The international offshore rig count for April 2019 was 251, up 4 from the 247 counted in March 2019, and up 57 from the 194 counted in April 2018.  Read more...
Royal Dutch Shell to invest $2 bln per year in Brazil -newspaper

Af.reuters.com, May 9, 2019: Royal Dutch Shell PLC has plans to invest about $2 billion per year in Brazil through 2025, Chief Executive Ben van Beurden told newspaper Valor Econômico in an exclusive interview. Its investment plans could be increased to allow the company to bid in three upcoming oil and gas auctions, Valor reported in its Thursday edition based on the interview. Royal Dutch Shell will not focus exclusively on oil projects, the report said. It is interested in exploring opportunities in natural gas, biofuels and the solar energy sector, Valor said.  Read more...
Exxon Mobil investing $100M in national labs for emissions reductions

Chron.com, May 8, 2019: Exxon Mobil said Wednesday it will invest about $100 million over 10 years in emissions-reduction technologies at some of the nation's top energy research labs. Exxon Mobil said the funds will go the U.S. Energy Department's National Renewable Energy Laboratory and National Energy Technology Laboratory for research into biofuels and carbon capture and storage projects in the power generation, transportation and industrial sectors.  Read more...

China-Russia Trade Up 5.8% To $33.17Bln In January-April - Chinese Customs Administration

Russia ready to expand gas cooperation with Greece, says expert

Tass.com, May 8, 2019: Russia is keen to supply energy to Greece and is ready to expand cooperation in the gas sector with the country, Executive Director of the Skolkovo Energy Center Vyacheslav Mischenko told reporters at an energy conference in Athens. He emphasized that "Russia is ready to expand cooperation with Greece in the gas field." "Greece is a country that Russia is interested in in all senses, and energy supplies, energy cooperation is a priority for Russia and its relevant ministries. As far as I understand all signals have been sent from the Russian side, while the position of Greece is still rather cautious, though that already concerns politics," the expert said.  Read more...
Russia becomes world's largest buyer of gold in 2019

Pravdareport.com, May 7, 2019: Russia's gold reserves have been growing at a record pace lately. A recent report from the World Gold Council (WGC) said that the Bank of Russia purchased 55.3 tons of gold in the first quarter of 2019 and thus reached the level of 2,168.3 tons of gold. Russia, the report said, has been acquiring gold lately in an attempt to relieve the dependence of the Russian economy on the US dollar in the event the USA imposes more sanctions on the Russian Federation.  Read more...
Russia's Nuclear Power Exports are Booming

Themoscowtimes.com, May 9, 2019: Russia's state-owned agency Rosatom is on a tear. The company operates 35 nuclear power stations in Russia that produce 28 gigawatts (GW) of power, and it is actively exporting its nuclear technology to countries around the world. Russia has been using nuclear power plants as a way of cementing ties with its fellow emerging markets with no nuclear power tradition and the BRICS countries, a group that started as a marketing tool for Goldman Sachs to sell equity but has increasingly turned into a real geopolitical alliance amongst the leading emerging market governments.  Read more...
Russian non-energy export expected to reach $160 bln in 2019

Tass.com, May 8, 2019: The government expects that Russia's non-energy exports will reach $160 bln in 2019, an increase of $9 bln compared with 2018, First Deputy Prime Minister, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said at the meeting of the Presidential Council for Strategic Development and National Projects on Wednesday. "Non-energy exports are expected to increase by up to $9 bln this year compared with last year, whereas the total amount will equal $160 bln," he said.  Read more...
Russian rouble firms, supported by bond auctions

Nasdaq.com, May 8, 2019: The rouble strengthened on Wednesday ahead of a long holiday weekend in Russia, supported by results of government bond auctions. At 1454 GMT, the rouble was 0.49 percent stronger against the dollar at 65.08 and had gained 0.33 percent to trade at 72.91 versus the euro. With the Moscow Exchange closed and many traders away from their desks, trading has been, and is set to remain, subdued.  Read more...
Turkey's top exports to Russia: Tomatoes, mandarins and lemons

Freshplaza.com, May 6, 2019: Turkey exported more than 147 million USD (131 million Euro) worth of fresh fruits and vegetables to Russia in the first three months of the year. Tomatoes, mandarins and lemons were top export products. According to Eastern Black Sea Exporters' Association (DKIB), Turkey, in the first quarter exported 219 thousand 145 tons of fresh fruits and vegetables to Russia and received 147 million 28 thousand 391 USD (131,2 million Euro) in return. Tomatoes, mandarins and lemons constituted 72,5% of the overall fresh produce exports to Russia.  Read more...
Russian Fishery Company to step up herring sales effort in Africa

Undercurrentnews.com, May 9, 2019: The Russian Fishery Company (RFC) has set its sights on selling more Pacific herring in Africa. One of the world's leading producers of both herring and pollock, RFC said it worked last year with the Stallion Group, a Dubai-based company that specializes in warehousing and distributing products in West Africa, to sell about 10,000 metric tons of herring in Nigeria. Kazakh region to export fruits & vegetables to Tatarstan

Freshplaza.com, May 9, 2019: The close cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia's Tatarstan Republic involves some serious economic and political interests. Entrepreneurs from Tatarstan's Kazan have shown interest in fruit and vegetable products of Kazakhstan's Turkistan region. Minatulla Gasanguseynov, the head of the wholesale and retail company Mariana-Region LLC arrived in the region on a working visit. The company is engaged in the supply of fruits and vegetables to such retail chains as Magnit and X5 Retail Group. China to develop business ties with Azerbaijan, builds new tyre plant

Emerging-europe.com, May 6, 2019: Azerbaijan has signed agreements with Chinese companies worth 821 million US dollars, including the construction of a new Chinese tyre plant with a proposed annual capacity of 3.3 million tyres. The construction will be carried out in Azerbaijan's Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park by Chinese state electrical engineering giant CNEEC, with the Azerbaijan Investment Company taking a 10 per cent share in the project. "The annual capacity of this enterprise is designed not only for the local market. Tyres will be exported to neighbouring countries, which will naturally serve to increase the export potential of Azerbaijan," said Azerbaijani economy minister Shahin Mustafayev.  Read more...
Samsung signs deal with Uzbekistan on postal infrastructure modernization

Menafn.com, May 9, 2019: Uzbekistan Pochtasi JSC and the South Korean corporation Samsung Electronics have signed a memorandum of cooperation. The parties approved the requirements that formed the basis for the signed memorandum during a meeting held back in April 2019. Samsung highly appreciates the initiative of Uzbekistan Pochtasi to introduce digital technologies into the postal infrastructure, as it is set to provide its own products for this project.  Read more...

Россия увеличила экспорт нефти в январе-апреле на 5,4%

Rns.online, 7 мая, 2019: Россия увеличила экспорт нефти в январе-апреле 2019 года на 5,4% по сравнению с показателем за аналогичный период прошлого года - до 87,722 млн тонн, следует из материалов Центрального диспетчерского управления ТЭК (ЦДУ ТЭК). Экспорт нефти из РФ в апреле составил 22,185 млн тонн, что на 3,9% больше, чем за аналогичный период прошлого года. Экспорт нефти в дальнее зарубежье в январе-апреле вырос на 5,9% - до 81,783 млн тонн, в апреле этот показатель составил 20,746 млн тонн. Экспорт сельхозпродукции в Китай может достигнуть $4 млрд

С 2017 года КНР является крупнейшим импортером российского продовольствия. Азербайджан, Турция и Россия подпишут в Анкаре меморандум по БТК

Два российских перевозчика откроют для туристов рейсы в Тайвань

Trn-news.ru, 8 мая, 2019: Авиакомпании S7 Airlines и Royal Flight заявили, что планируют с конца мая открыть рейсы на Тайвань. Пока речь идет о рейсах из Владивостока и Москвы. Об этом сообщила тайваньская сторона «в лице» Международного радио Тайваня со ссылкой на местное управление гражданской авиации. Согласно этой информации S7 будет осуществлять рейсы между Владивостоком и международным аэропортом Таоюань каждую пятницу на самолете Airbus А320.
