Trade Mission to St. Petersburg Economic Forum
June 6-8, 2019

On June 6-8, 2019, the USRCC traditionally participated in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum - 2019.  The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) is a unique event in the world of business and economics. The SPIEF is held annually since 1997 in St. Petersburg. S tarting from the year 2006 SPIEF has been held under the auspices of the Russian President. The Forum is attended by the President of the Russian Federation, highest ranked government officials, C-Level business executives, experts, scientists, and journalists from around the world.
 
The SPIEF allows the global business community to discuss key economic issues, technologies and innovations in various sectors of economy, global business challenges, and many other matters.


The USRCC management attended several roundtables and panel discussions, including Russia - USA Business Dialogue, and held meetings with high-ranked Russian government officials as well as with influential business leaders in international trade and investment. 
 
The U.S - Russia Chamber of Commerce is looking forward to participating in the St. Petersburg Economic Forum in 2020!

Shell plans to boost returns and become a force in power

Reuters.com, June 4, 2019: Royal Dutch Shell outlined plans on Tuesday to boost shareholder returns after 2020, while also increasing spending on oil, gas and power, as it capitalizes on years of cost cutting to prepare for a lower carbon future.  In a strategy update, the Anglo-Dutch energy company said it was on track to deliver on its commitment to sharply increase cash generation and carry out one of the world's largest share buyback programs of $25 billion by the end of next year. It then plans to increase payouts to investors through dividends and share buybacks to $125 billion between 2021 and 2025, roughly half of its current market value. That compares with payouts of around $90 billion between 2016 and 2020.  Read more...
Gazprom shares hit 10-year high

Energy-reporters.com, June 4, 2019: Russian gas export giant Gazprom's  shares have hit a decade-high amid  speculation about management changes. The shares rose 17 per cent yesterday (Monday) to their highest level since August 2008. Gazprom's management doubled its dividend payout from 8 rubles per share to 16.6 rubles last week, under apparent pressure from the Russian Finance Ministry.The Kremlin  relies on oil and gas to fund more than a third of its budget. The firm's shares have now risen more than 40 per cent in the past month, after rising for much of this year.   Read more...

Russia to contribute 32% of global new-build underground gas storage capacity growth by 2023: GlobalData

Oilandgasmiddleeast.com, June 4, 2019: Russia is expected to drive the growth in the global underground gas storage industry between 2019 and 2023, contributing around 32% of the working gas capacity growth from planned and announced projects, according to GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company. The company's report: 'Global Capacity and Capital Expenditure Outlook for Underground Gas Storage - Turkey Leads Global New-Build Gas Storage Capex ' reveals that Russia's underground gas storage sector is expected to have a working gas storage capacity of 780 billion cubic feet (bcf) by 2023 from planned and announced projects.  Read more...
Greece Interested in Buying Russian LNG - Adviser to Greek Prime Minister

Hellenicshippingnews.com, June 5, 2019: Russia and Greece have a promising future in wide-ranging economic cooperation, with the latter interested in importing liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the former, Dimitrios Velanis, an adviser to the Greek prime minister on Russian and Eastern European issues, told Sputnik. "This year was more productive in terms of the economic relations between Russia and Greece. Maritime, shipping as well as steel industry and energy agreements were reached... Greece is currently at the economic growth phase after a long crisis, and the use of Russian energy resources, including gas, will be the factor of development. I see great prospects in the development of a gas network, in Russian gas deliveries to Greece," Velanis said ahead of the Greek delegation's arrival at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).  Read more...
Russia & China to ink dozens of deals during St. Petersburg Economic Forum

Rt.com, June 5, 2019: Moscow and Beijing are set to further strengthen bilateral ties during Chinese President Xi Jinping's three-day visit to Russia. Xi will meet Russian President Vladimir Putin and participate in the St. Petersburg Economic Forum. The Chinese leader came for a three-day state visit to Russia on June 5, which comes as the two countries mark 70 years of established diplomatic ties. Xi is set to hold talks with the Russian president in Moscow on Wednesday, after which they will sign a joint statement on the development of bilateral relations and partnership. The two sides are also expected to ink various agreements, including in energy and finance.  Read more...
US Became Leading Foreign Investor in Russian Economy in 2018 - Survey

Sputniknews.com, June 6, 2019: The United States beat China by the number of investment projects in Russia and became the leading investor in that country in 2018 for the first time since 2013 despite tense relations between Moscow and Washington in recent years, a survey, carried out by EY consultancy and obtained by Sputnik, has shown. According to the survey, which was prepared for the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) in Russia, the number of US investment projects in Russia reached 33 projects last year, growing by 74 percent compared to the previous year, when the number stood at just 19.  Read more...
St. Petersburg Hopes To Ink $1.8Bln Worth Of Deals At SPIEF 2019 - Acting Governor

Urdupoint.com, June 6, 2019: The  Russian city of  St. Petersburg is planning to conclude 120  billion rubles worth ($1.84  billion) of deals during the  St. PetersburgInternational Economic Forum (SPIEF), which opened earlier on Thursday, the city's acting  governor, Alexander Beglov, said. "We are planing to sign 26 agreements that are [worth] about 120  billion rubles. We have strategic partners, notably Gazprom and  Russian Railways, we will sign deals [with them]. In a matter of minutes, we will sign an  agreement with  Russian Railways. [The  agreement provides for] an investment of 88  billion rubles by 2024, the development of a railroad  hub, high-speed roads, and the construction of overpasses," Beglov told reporters.  Read more...
Russia, Slovakia agree on supplies of Russian fuel to Slovak nuclear plants in 2022-2030

Tass.com, June 5, 2019: Russia and Slovakia have agreed on supplies of Russian nuclear fuel to Slovak nuclear power plants in 2022-2030. TVEL Corporation (part of Russian nuclear corporation Rosatom) and Slovak Power Plants (Slovenske Elektrarne) signed a relevant additional document to the bilateral general contract on Wednesday. The document was signed by TVEL President Natalya Nikipelova and the general director of the Slovak company Branislav Stricek. The signing ceremony took place in the presence of the two countries' Prime Ministers - Dmitry Medvedev and Peter Pellegrini - following their talks in Moscow.  Read more...
Russia gold rush sets miners on course to leapfrog Australia

Businesstimes.com.sg, June 4, 2019: RUSSIA could overtake Australia as the world's No 2 gold producer over the next five years as increasing output from junior miners complements the development of a huge untapped deposit in Siberia. Russia increased gold output to 297.3 tonnes last year, but a record 315 tonnes kept Australia in second place behind China, according to the World Gold Council. While Australian production is set to peak at 346 tonnes in 2020, government projections show a sharp decline in 2023 or 2024.  Read more...
Russia may soon become transit country for goods between Europe & Asia

Rt.com, June 6, 2019: The strengthening cooperation between the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) allows Russia to proceed with transit opportunities between Asia and Europe. That's according to the head of the Russian Federal Customs Service (FSC), Vladimir Bulavin, who was talking at a session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2019) on Thursday. "The level of development of bilateral and multilateral relationship suggests that in the near future there will definitely be a breakthrough which will allow the SCO countries to realize potential transit opportunities between Asia and Europe,"Bulavin said.  Read more...
South China province sees rise in trade with Russia

Xinhuanet.com, June 4, 2019: The southern Chinese province of Guangdong has seen its trade with Russia rise by 26.5 percent during the first four months this year, the provincial customs said Tuesday. Guangdong's trade with Russia reached 19.74 billion yuan (2.86 billion U.S. dollars) from January to April, up by 26.5 percent from the same period last year. During the period, the province's export to Russia hit 18.49 billion yuan, up 26 percent year on year. Its import from Russia was 1.25 billion yuan, up 35 percent.  Read more...

Alibaba, Mail.Ru, Megafon form AliExpress Russia JV to double down on e-commerce in CIS

Techcrunch.com, June 5, 2019: After  announcing plans in September 2018 to build a joint venture together, today Russian internet giant Mail.ru,  Megafon and China's Alibaba announced that the deal has closed. With support also from Russia's sovereign wealth fund RDIF, the three are forming a new operation called AliExpress Russia JV - which will include business assets and investment from all three - to double down on building e-commerce services to serve consumers and businesses in Russia and neighboring countries. The joint effort is estimated to have a value in the region of $2 billion.  Read more...
Russia and Azerbaijan strengthen transport links

Vestnikkavkaza.net, June 4, 2019: A solemn ceremony to send the first subway railcars for the Baku Metro to Azerbaijan was held in Moscow today. The event was attended by Transmashholding CEO Kirill Lipa, Azerbaijani ambassador to Russia Polad Bulbul oglu, chairman of Baku Metro CJSC Zaur Huseynovand Metrovagonmash CEO Boris Bogatyrev. The agreement to supply 30 subway railcars (81-765/766 model) to Baku was signed in January. In accordance with the agreement, six trains will be built for the Baku subway by the end of 2019.  Optional Link
Tesla is expanding in Kazakhstan this year, says Elon Musk

Electrek.co, June 4, 2019: Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced that the electric automaker is expanding with Supercharger stations and service centers in Kazakhstan this year. Kazakhstan is a fairly small automotive market, especially for luxury vehicles. With a population of about 18 million people and a GDP per capita of $8,762, there are not that many people able to buy new cars.  Read more...
Russian company upgrades three airports in Uzbekistan

Menafn.com, June 5, 2019: The largest Russian airport network Novaport will modernize three airports in Uzbekistan, Trend reports citing Uzbek media. On May 30, the company Novaport Holding (Russia) and the government of Uzbekistan concluded an agreement on the implementation of an investment project for the modernization and development of the airports of Samarkand, Namangan and Urgench. Chairman of the Board of Novaport Holding Roman Trotsenko and the First Deputy Minister of Transport of Uzbekistan Ilhom Mahkamov signed the document.  Read more...

В январе-мае Россия нарастила экспорт нефти на 4,2%

Vestifinance.ru, 3 июня, 2019: Россия увеличила экспорт нефти в январе-мае 2019 г. на 4,2% по сравнению с показателем за аналогичный период прошлого года до 109,016 млн тонн, отмечается в материалах Центрального диспетчерского управления ТЭК (ЦДУ ТЭК). Экспорт российской нефти в мае составил 21,195 млн тонн. Экспорт нефти в дальнее зарубежье в январе-мае вырос на 5,1% до 102,053 млн тонн, в мае этот показатель составил 20,171 млн тонн.  Экспорт нефти в ближнее зарубежье в январе-мае снизился на 7,8% и составил 6,963 млн тонн, в мае Россия экспортировала в ближнее зарубежье 1,024 млн тонн нефти.  Читать далее...
В Санкт-Петербурге начинается международный экономический форум

Общее количество гостей составит 17 тысяч человек. Столько не приезжали ещё никогда. Участники обсудят, в первую очередь, вопросы экономики и бизнеса, отмечает телеканал  "Россия 24". Россия наращивает несырьевой экспорт

Приморским предпринимателям помогут нарастить экспорт в Китай

Iz.ru, 4 июня, 2019: Первый поток акселератора «Энергия экспорта» начался в Приморском крае. Программа реализуется краевым Центром поддержки экспорта при содействии Российского экспортного центра и Министерства экономического развития РФ. Участниками стали 15 предприятий малого и среднего бизнеса, которые планируют наладить или увеличить поставки своей продукции в Китай. По словам разработчика программы Ильи Романова, в России таких проектов еще не было, передает  ИА PrimaMedia. «Мы сформировали команду международных экспертов, у которых большой практический опыт торговли с Китаем. Китайская Great Wall открыла автомобильный завод в Тульской области

Russian.rt.com, 5 июня, 2019: Китайский автопроизводитель Great Wall Motor открыл завод на территории индустриального парка «Узловая» в Тульской области, сообщается на сайте регионального правительства. Как  отмечается, работников предприятия и почётных гостей церемонии приветствовал первый заместитель губернатора Вячеслав Федорищев. «Уверен, что индустриальный парк «Узловая» станет не только одной из самых крупных производственных площадок Центральной России, но и самой эффективной», - сказал он. В свою очередь, гендиректор Haval motor (входит в концерн) Элвис Ченга отметил, что это первый китайский автомобильный завод полного цикла за рубежом.  Читать далее...
