WELCOME OUR NEWEST MEMBER - AGAPE UNLIMITED
Agape Unlimited is a multinational medical mission organization in Russia with humanitarian clinics located throughout Moscow
to serve the poor and medically underserved. The word Agape in the an
cient Greek language refers to God's unconditional love towards mankind.
The largest and probably most significant clinic Agape Unlimited works at is with our Russian physicians from our partner, Russian NGO Agape Russia. The clinic is the Homeless Shelter in Moscow that has 400 overnight beds and can accommodate up to 700 people in longer term rehabilitation. Agape is allowed to run the free medical clinic to the homeless in this Moscow municipal facility. Currently, we staff the clinic with a physician and other medical clinicians 2 days per week, but have a goal of providing medical care 4 days per week. Most of the homeless there have had life's circumstances conspire against them to send them to the Shelter. Many are elderly, handicapped and have no were else to turn. In the winter, frostbite is a frequent condition affecting the homeless at the Shelter, often requiring immediate medical attention. Since we began working at the shelter, we have helped to reduce the mortality rate over 80%!
Agape Unlimited began in Russia when William "Dr. Bill" Becknell, M.D. left his surgical practice in Kentucky to live and work full time in Russia. He founded Agape Unlimited, Inc., the USA parent organization, which is a registered U.S. 501(c)3 organization and works in cooperation with Agape Unlimited Health Services in Canada, Agape Unlimited in Germany, and Agape Russia in Russia.
Since 1993, Agape has served by providing medicines, medical consultations, and assistance to those who have little or no access to medical care. Often Agape teams travel to remote and isolated people groups in the Arctic and Siberia in addition to the poor and overlooked in Moscow. In 2007, Agape began working in cooperation with several of the leading medical universities and residency training programs in the Moscow area. Through conferences and smaller seminars, Agape teaches whole-person compassionate medical care. Agape's goal is to grow a new generation of Russian medical personnel who can continue the work initially started by Agape.
