Shell enters Australia power industry with $419 million bid for ERM Power

Reuters.com, August 21, 2019: Royal Dutch Shell has made its first foray into Australia's highly competitive power sector with a A$617 million ($419 million) takeover offer for ERM Power Ltd, the country's no.2 energy retailer to businesses and industry. The deal would instantly give Shell a power supplier with almost a quarter share of the commercial and industrial retail market in Australia, second only to Origin Energy in that space. It will also get two gas-fired power stations. Shell, already one of Australia's biggest gas producers, wants to use its global scale in oil and gas to build a power business, as the world rapidly shifts toward cleaner energy. It plans to boost annual spending on the strategy to between $2 billion and $3 billion by 2025.  Read more...
Baker Hughes (BHGE) Wins Contract for Calcasieu Pass Project

Finance.yahoo.com, August 21, 2019: Baker Hughes, a GE company BHGE recently announced that it has secured a contract for the Calcasieu Pass project of Venture Global LNG. Baker Hughes is expected to provide modular liquefaction trains for the project. Moreover, its power generation and electrical distribution equipment will likely bring innovative technology solutions to the Calcasieu Pass project, located in Cameron Parish, LA. Notably, this award is part of a master equipment supply agreement - which involves building 60 million tons per annum (MTPA) of production capacity - signed between Baker Hughes and Venture Global LNG.  Read more...
Rosneft posted an increase in production in the 1st half of 2019

Neftegaz.ru, August 21, 2019: Hydrocarbon production in H1 2019 amounted to 5.81 mmboed (141.8 mmtoe for the half-year), exceeding H1 2018 level by 1.8%. In H1 2019 liquids production amounted to 4.68 mmbpd (114.3 mmt for the half-year), exceeding H2 2018 production level by 2.1%. Production growth was due to the continued active development of new large projects (Yurubcheno-Tokhomskoye, Srednebotuobinskoye, Kondinskoye fields) and production ramp-up at brownfields (Samaraneftegaz, RN-Nyaganneftegaz, Varyaganneftegaz).  Read more...

Eastern Economic Forum in Russia to feature 70 events

Outlookindia.com, August 21, 2019: With an aim of expanding international cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region and developing the economy in Russias Far East, over 70 business events, including panel discussions, will be held as part of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) in Vlodivostok from September 4 to 6.
The EEF programme consists of four main thematic pillars -- ''New Solutions for Accelerating Economic Growth'', ''Improving the Business Environment'', ''The Far East and Asia Pacific: Fostering Collaboration'', and ''New Solutions for Improving Quality of Life''.
As per the tradition, the central event of the EEF will be a plenary session attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad, and Mongolian President Khaltmaagiin Battulga.   Read more...
Gazprom Neft and Air France Extend Cooperation Agreement

Aviationproc.com, August 19, 2019: Gazpromneft-Aero, the jet fuel business operator of Gazprom Neft, has signed a new agreement with Air France to refuel regular flights at the Nikola Tesla international airport in Belgrade, Serbia, from where the airline has recently launched regular flights to Paris. The total refueling volume under this contract will exceed 2,000 tons and will be carried out in partnership with NIS, a subsidiary of Gazprom Neft in Serbia.
At present Gazpromneft-Aero refuels Air France aircraft at Sheremetyevo International Airport (Moscow) under a two-year agreement. In 2018 the refueling volume of the carrier's airplanes in Sheremetyevo exceeded 11,000 tons of jet fuel.   Read more...
Belarusian companies invited to operate in Russian industrial zone in Egypt

Eng.belta.by, August 21, 2019: Belarusian companies have been invited to become residents of the Russian industrial zone in Egypt. The project was presented in the Belarusian Industry Ministry on 21 August, BelTA learned from the Russian Export Center. The key goal of the project is to open access to the market of Egypt, its neighbors, and other Middle East and African countries to as large a number of companies from Russia and the Eurasian Economic Union as possible. A complex industrial park will be established on an area of 525ha within the next five years. Its residents will be able to enjoy such advantages as proximity to the most important logistics channels, business operation rules, which are simplified as much as possible, and a one-stop shop principle for dealing with problems.  Read more...
Mozambican president to visit Russia at Putin's invitation

Xinhuanet.com, August 19, 2019: Mozambique's President Filipe Nyusi will pay an official visit to Russia, which will be the first by a Mozambican head of state since 1991.
The visit will be from Tuesday to Friday at the invitation of his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, said the President's Office on Monday.
"The visit to Russia is part of the consolidation and deepening of the friendship and cooperation relations between the two countries in the bilateral and international fields and is an opportunity for the definition of strategies aimed at strengthening political, economic and business relations," read a press statement from the President's Office.   Read more...
Russia, Finland to broaden interaction on environmental topics

Tass.com, August 21, 2019: Moscow and Helsinki agreed to broaden interaction in the environmental sphere, President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday at the press conference after talks with President of Finland Sauli Niinist·.
"Russia and Finland are closely cooperation in the field of environmental protection. Representatives of about thirty Russian regions will come to Finland in September for experience sharing in the environmental protection sphere. We agreed to further expand interaction on the environmental topic, including within the Arctic Council's framework," Putin said.   Read more...
Russia's Yandex looks at tenfold increase in AV fleet to speed up testing

Autonews.com, August 19, 2019: Yandex, a Russian equivalent to Google, said it is considering expanding its fleet of self-driving cars to up to 1,000 within the next two years in order to speed up tests on the fledgling technology.
Yandex hopes to start testing more than 100 of its self-driving cars on roads by the end of this year. It already has a fleet of 90 cars, 35 of which are being tested on Moscow's roads with a Yandex engineer present.   Read more...
Russia to Open Tourism Center in Remote Arctic Archipelago

Themoscowtimes.com, August 19, 2019: Russia is set to open a new tourism center in Franz Josef Land, a remote Arctic archipelago, in response to heightened interest in traveling above the Arctic Circle. The visitor center is located on Guker Island, one of the largest in the archipelago. On this site in 1929, Soviet explorers established the very first research station in the region. The facility was regularly visited by Arctic expeditions afterward. In 1937, an Arctic observatory headed by the famous explorer Ivan Papanin was opened on the site.  Read more...

Swiss company considering setting up investment fund in Belarus

Eng.belta.bu, August 21, 2019: The Swiss company Belstockcapital Holding Limited is studying legal aspects of establishing an investment fund in Belarus, the company's representatives said at a meeting in the National Agency of Investment and Privatization (NAIP) of Belarus on 20 August, BelTA learned from the NAIP. The director and partners of the Swiss company announced the launch of a project to study the Belarusian market and legal aspects in order to set up an investment fund. The company intends to use the fund to finance Belarusian investment projects, primarily in the construction industry, agriculture, and food industry. The representatives of Belstockcapital Holding Limited also expressed interest in privatization and public-private partnership projects.  Read more...
Car production volumes grow in Azerbaijan

Menafn.com, August 21, 2019: Some 1,304 cars were produced in Azerbaijan in January-July 2019, which is 4.8 times more than the same period last year,Trendreports referring to the State Statistical Committee.
According to the committee, the total production of cars, trailers and semi-trailers in Azerbaijan amounted to almost 63 million manats (a decrease by 3.7 percent over the year).
Some 16,965 cars worth a total of 234.9 million manats were imported, along with 1,593 trucks worth 25 million manats (an increase of 1.6 and 1.6 times, respectively) and 101 buses worth almost 6 million manats (an increase of 1.7 times and 46.8 percent, respectively).    Read more...
Trade between US, Kazakhstan up by 31.8%

En.trend.az, August 21, 2019:  Topical issues of the development of bilateral trade, economic and investment cooperation between Kazakhstan and US were discussed in Nur-Sultan,  Trend  reports with reference to the press office of the prime minister of Kazakhstan.
The issues were discussed during the meeting between Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin and the US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs David Hale, who arrived in Nur-Sultan for an official visit to attend the C5 + 1 meeting on developing dialogue between Central Asian countries and the United States.
"The parties noted the importance of implementing the agreements concluded between the First President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev and the President of the United States Donald Trump during an official visit to the United States in 2018," the report said.  Read more...

Россия и Индия подвели итоги Второго стратдиалога в ходе визита Орешкина в Нью-Дели

Tass.ru, 21 августа, 2019: Россия и Индия подвели итоги Второго российско-индийского стратегического экономического диалога, прошедшего в июле в Индии, и подтвердили перспективные направления экономического сотрудничества в ходе визита в среду в Нью-Дели главы Минэкономразвития Максима Орешкина. Аграрии Татарстана выполнили прогнозный показатель по заготовке сенажа
 
Tatar-inform.ru, 22 августа, 2019: Аграрии республики заготовили сенажа для животноводства больше, чем планировали. Об этом ИА «Татар-информ» сообщили в Минсельхозпроде РТ. В ведомстве отметили, что в этом году намечалось заложить 2 млн 697 тыс. тонн сенажа, по состоянию на 22 августа по республике его заготовлено 2 млн 765,4 тыс. тонн.«Это составляет 102,5% к прогнозу и почти 240 тыс. тонн превышает показатель на аналогичную дату прошлого года», - заметил начальник отдела развития отраслей животноводства Минсельхозпрода РТ Сирень Нигматзянов.  Читать далее...
