Russia to become major player in global LNG production - energy minister, September 5, 2019: The Russian Energy Ministry has forecasted major growth in domestic liquefied natural gas (LNG) production to as much as 140 million tons per year, from its current annual output of 30 million tons. "If we unveil the available potential, we can progress from current volumes of about 30 million tons of LNG production to the level of 120-140 million tons [per year]," Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said at the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) on Thursday. He noted that the increase would allow Russia to "capture... up to 15-20 percent of the [LNG] global market."  Read more...

India to provide $1 bln credit line for development of Russia's Far East, September 5, 2019: The premier emphasized that this is a unique case when New Delhi provides such special credit line to another country. India has decided to allocate a $1 bln credit line to the Russian Federation for the development of the Far East, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi announced at a plenary meeting of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF-2019) on Thursday.  Read more...
Novatek Approves $21bn Arctic LNG 2 Project, September 5, 2019: Russia on Thursday moved one step closer toward its goal of commanding 20% of the global LNG market by 2035, as gas major  Novatek gave the go-ahead for its Arctic LNG 2 project,  reportsThe privately owned company, alongside Russia Energy Minister Alexander Novak, announced Thursday that it made a final investment decision on the project at the  Eastern Economic Forum  in Russia's Pacific port of Vladivostok. The move commits it to proceed with financing and engineering contracts for the development, which will cost $21 billion and is expected to be completed between 2023 and 2025, Novak said.  Read more...
India and Russia target $30 billion in trade by 2025, announce new energy deals, September 4, 2019: India and Russia are targeting $30 billion of annual trade by 2025, India's foreign secretary said on Wednesday as a string of energy deals deepened economic ties between the nations. Seeking to boost bilateral trade from its current $11 billion, the two countries announced deals in sectors including energy, defence and shipping after a meeting between  Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at an economic forum in Vladivostok.  Read more...
Russia, Saudi Arabia Discuss Cooperation in Agriculture, September 4, 2019: Russian Agriculture Minister Dmitry Patrushev and Saudi Arabian Energy Minister Khalid al-Falih will discuss the development of bilateral relations, including agricultural trade, during their meeting on Thursday, the Russian ministry said,  according to Russia. In August, Saudi Arabia decided to  relax its bug-damage specifications for wheat imports, opening the door to Black Sea imports and strengthening ties with Russia beyond energy cooperation.  Read more...
Vietnam expects trade turnover with Russia to hit $10bn this year, September 4, 2019: The volume of trade between Russia and Vietnam could grow to $10 billion by 2020, according to Vietnam's Deputy Foreign Minister To Anh Dung. Speaking at the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) in Russia's Vladivostok on Wednesday, he said: "Both sides have possibilities to improve the efficiency of comprehensive cooperation in all aspects." The official noted that Vietnam's free trade agreement with the Russian-led Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) has significantly contributed to trade turnover growth. Hanoi inked the free trade zone deal with the EEU in 2015, becoming the first non-regional country to join the bloc.  Read more...
Crab Fishing Licenses to Bring Russia Almost $2bn, September 3, 2019: The value of new licenses for crab fishing in Russia stands at 125.5 billion rubles ($1.9 billion),  Vedomosti reported last week citing documents from the Ministry of Agriculture approved by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev. The world-famous Kamchatka red crab is regarded as Russia's "other caviar" and fetches high prices from export as well as being highly valued by the Russians themselves as a favorite delicacy.  Read more...
Rosatom wins licence to build second nuclear reactor in Turkey - deputy CEO, September 6, 2019: Russia's Rosatom has won a licence to start building the second of four planned nuclear reactors in Akkuyu, Turkey, and is preparing to install the first steel equipment on unit one this autumn, the company's deputy CEO Kirill Komarov said on Friday. The $20 billion project to build four Russian-design nuclear reactors in Akkuyu on the Mediterranean coast is one of the largest nuclear new-build projects worldwide and will allow Turkey to join the small club of nations with civil nuclear energy.  Read more...

Potato Processing Plant Launched in the Tyumen Region, September 5, 2019: On September 5, KRiMM agricultural company launched a potato processing plant in the Tyumen region. The opening ceremony was attended by Ivan Lebedev, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, Alexander Moor, Governor of the region, Meeuwes Brouwer, Agricultural Advisor of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in the Russian Federation, as well as regional Duma deputies and business representatives.  Read more...

Belarusian-Egyptian business-forum held in Minsk, September 3, 2019 Egypt is interested in the arrival of business from Belarus to the economic zone of the Suez Canal, as well as deepening the localization of joint ventures to enter third countries. This was announced today at the Belarusian-Egyptian business meeting. More than 80 heads of companies of the two countries spoke about further development of projects in trade, industry, and agriculture. Our country hopes, together with Egypt, to enter the markets of Africa and the Middle East. Therefore, production cooperation and an increase in joint export-import come to the fore. The first meeting Business Cooperation Council for is scheduled for next January in Cairo.  Read more...

Next German-Azerbaijani Business Forum to be held in Baku in September 2019, September 2, 2019:  On September 27, 2019, the German-Azerbaijani Chamber of Commerce (AHK Azerbaijan) organises the annual German-Azerbaijani Business Forum "Modernisation of Industry and Infrastructure" with the support of the German Eastern Business Association (Ost-Ausschuss - Osteuropaverein der Deutschen Wirtschaft e.V.) at Hyatt Regency Meeting and Conference Centre.  This year the core themes of the Forum are finance and business climate, transport and infrastructure, and agriculture and nutrition. Kazakh Invest initiates four projects worth $217 million in first half of 2019, September 4, 2019 : Kazakh Invest supported implementing four projects worth $217 million and construction and installation works for 12 projects worth $1.7 billion in the first half of 2019. Thirty-four projects worth $7.1 billion have entered the execution phase, the company's press service reported Sept. 2."It is also expected to assist in the commissioning of 30 projects worth $2 billion and to launch the construction and installation works of 35 projects worth $4 billion. Approximately 40 percent of projects planned for commissioning are related to renewable energy and information and communication technologies," according to the company press release.   Read more...
