Members' News, September 9, 2019:  Today, to mark the anniversary year for VDNKh, PJSC LUKOIL opened an interactive training center in the historical Oil Pavilion No. 25 to celebrate the achievements of the Russian oil industry, the national science and technological development. Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin and LUKOIL President Vagit Alekperov evaluated the extent of reconstruction and the potential of the new building for residents and tourists.  Read more...
BHGE and Announce Release of First AI Application - BHC3 Reliability, September 11, 2019 Baker Hughes, a GE company (NYSE:BHGE) and today announced the launch of BHC3 Reliability , the first artificial intelligence (AI) software application developed by the joint venture.  Unveiled at BHGE's annual digital conference, UNIFY2019, the now generally available application uses deep learning predictive models, natural language processing, and machine vision to continuously aggregate data from plant-wide sensor networks, enterprise systems, maintenance notes, and piping and instrumentation schematics. Using historical and real-time data from entire systems, the BHC3 Reliability  machine learning models identify anomalous conditions that lead to equipment failure and process upsets. Russia, Saudi Arabia prepare dozens of new joint projects, says Russia's Energy Minister, September 11, 2019: Russia and Saudi Arabia are preparing to sign a package of documents that includes several dozens of new joint projects, Russia's Minister of Energy Alexander Novak told reporters on Wednesday.  "We are preparing a large, solid package of documents. Several dozens of projects," he said.
The day before, the minister was in Saudi Arabia. According to him, the purpose of the trip was to prepare for the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to the country. Novak said earlier that in the near future, Saudi Arabia could start investing in Russian projects in the field of petrochemicals, production of liquefied natural gas, and in creation of joint research centers. According to him, trade turnover between the countries is constantly growing and in the Q1 2019 it doubled the figure for the same period in 2018, increasing to $420.4 mln.  Read more...
Ozon Battling It Out for E-Commerce Supremacy in Russia, September 10th, 2019: Russia's old economy is stagnating, but a new one built around e-commerce is growing in double digits and stillaccelerating. All the conditions for e-commerce to take off are now in place, says Alexander Shulgin, CEO of Ozon, one of Russia's big-three online retailers. In his first extensive interview with bne IntelliNews, he says the sector can look forward to at least a decade of fast growth.Online retailing already accounts for 4.5% of total retail turnover and is growing by 25% a year, but the biggest companies are all growing by 70% or more. The race is on to capture as many loyal customers as possible, as in this game the industry leaders come to dominate each segment once the business matures. Read more...


Russia Wants To Extend Moscow-St Petersburg High Speed Rail To Helsinki

Russia-China Bilateral Trade Growing By US$500 Million A Month, September 9th, 2019: US-China Trade War Has Shifted Some US China Purchasing To Russia. Bilateral trade between Russia and China has been growing at 4.5% this year, with sharp increases over the past three months. That is roughly equivalent of China adding another US$500 million every month to its Russia shopping basket.  The figures, based on data released by the Chinese Customs Administration, show that trade reached US$70.59 billion in the first eight months of the year, with growth almost entirely comprised of increased exports to China. The growth volume of Chinese exports to Russia was essentially static at US$31.14 billion. But China's imports of Russian goods and services increased 8.3% to US$39.45 billion. Read more...

Japan Airlines Will Move Flight Operations to Sheremetyevo, September 12th, 2019: Since 1967,  Japan Airlines (JAL) has been operating flights from Tokyo to Moscow, now reaching 53 consecutiveyears of service. On Thursday, the carrier  revealed upcoming plans to relocate services to Moscow's Sheremetyevo International Airport.  Sheremetyevo is well accessible from Moscow city centre and has a modern infrastructure that provides a high level of service for passengers. Sheremetyevo airport has been recognized for the best customer service in the busiest airports in Europe category by ACI's global Airport Service Quality (ASQ) program for 2018.  Read more...
Russia Could Produce Millions of Self-driving Cars by 2028: Report, September 11th, 2019:  Russia is emerging with relevant technologies and strategies and is ramping up its production of automated and driverless vehicles, recent research conducted by data and analytics  firm  GlobalData  reveals,  according  to ESI Africa. "According to GlobalData forecasts, Society of Automotive Engineering (SAE) Level 3 and Level 4 automated light vehicles will see a big rise in volumes over the next decade so that they account for over three million units of annual production by 2028. Companies need to be developing and testing the relevant technologies now to be competitive and participate in the market for these vehicles as it develops," says David Leggett, Automotive Editor at GlobalData.  Read more...

Russia, Azerbaijan set to further develop energy cooperation, September 13th, 2019: Azerbaijan and Russia cooperate in a number of spheres with energy cooperation being one of the leading directions of this strategic partnership. The two countries have discussed directions of further cooperation in the energy sector. The discussion was held between Parviz Shahbazov, the Azerbaijani Energy Minister, and his Russian counterpart Alexander Novak on September 11 in Abu Dhabi.  Novak said that the cooperation between the two countries has been going on for many years and is based on strategic partnership. He noted that Russia and Azerbaijan are actively cooperating in a multilateral format as part of the CIS Electric Power Council and OPEC.  Optional Link

Россия нарастила экспорт легковых автомобилей и алюминия, 10 сентября, 2019: Экспорт легковых автомобилей из России в январе-июле 2019 года вырос на 28 процентов по сравнению с аналогичным периодом 2018 года, до 64,5 тысячи штук, грузовых - на 2,8 процента, до 7,3 тысячи штук, свидетельствуют данные  Федеральной таможенной службы России. Об этом говорится в сообщении, опубликованном на  сайте портала «Будущее России. Национальные проекты».
Также экспорт алюминия из России увеличился в январе - июле 2019 года в стоимостном выражении по сравнению с аналогичным периодом годом ранее на 18 процентов и достиг 3,196 миллиарда долларов.   Читать далее...
