USRCC's 4th Senior Business Executive Speaker Series

On September 17, 2019, the U.S.-Russia Chamber of Commerce organized its 4th Senior Executive Speaker Series roundtable featuring Mark Gyetvay, Deputy Chairman and CFO of NOVATEK - the 2d largest independent natural gas producer in Russia and the 6th largest gas producer in the world. The event started with the networking and continued by opening remarks made by the USRCC's Chairman of the Board. After the welcome remarks, Piotr Galitzine, Chairman and CEO, TMK IPSCO provided introductory remarks to the main speaker of the event Mr. Gyetvay.

Mr. Gyetvay shared with the audience his experience related to the success of the Yamal LNG project, which was completed ahead of the deadlines and under the budget, sophistication and challenges of the construction and logistical side of the Arctic LNG project, delivery and marketing aspects, market competitiveness and the LNG market outlook.

This "by invitation only" roundtable was attended by the senior executives of the top global energy and investments companies. Attendees included Presidents, CEOs, Chairpersons and C-level executives from, Shell, LUKOIL, TOTAL, Mitsui, Rusk Capital, TMK IPSCO, OMK Tube, Neftegaz (Rosneft), Gazprom Marketing and Trading, Miller and Lents, Sulzer GTC Technology, Gas Innovation, OFSI, WoodRock and Co. and others.
Business roundtable concluded with the networking session where attendees exchanged opinions and made new business connections.

The Gazprom Neft Board of Directors Confirms the Company's Digital Transformation Strategy to 2030,  September 19th, 2019:  The Gazprom Neft Board of Directors has confirmed the company's digital transformation strategy. This new document has been developed in line with the company's wider business development strategy to 2030, and supports its implementation.  This digital transformation envisages a range of major programmes for changes to technological and operational processes at Gazprom Neft, directed at moving over to new management systems and facilitating significant improvements in assets' efficiency and industrial safety.  Read more...
Lukoil and Samara region sign supplemental agreement on cooperation, September 18th, 2019:  Head of Government of the Samara Region Victor Kudryashov and President of LUKOIL Vagit Alekperov sign ed today in Samara a supplemental  agreement to the effective Agreement on Cooperation for 2018 - 2023. The purpose of the document is to facilitate further  continuous economic development, improve investment opportunities, create favorable environment and to evolve municipal and regional social projects.   Read more...

Construction of Russia's northernmost wind farm begins near Murmansk, September 19th, 2019 An official ceremony to begin construction of Russia's northernmost wind farm was organized near a road connecting Murmansk and Teriberka. The ceremony featured the Murmansk Region's Acting Governor Andrei Chibis and Enel Russia's Director General Carlo Palasciano Villamagna.  Construction of the wind farm, which is the first wind farm in the Murmansk Region, is planned be completed in 2021. Investments in the project will make 237 million euro. The wind farm will have positive effect on the region's ecological situation, Enel Russia's representative said during the ceremony, adding the new power generating complex will be an input in the Russian energy system.  Read more...
Closed the gap: Russia no longer lags behind West in future technologies, says expert, September 19th, 2019The Russian city of Novosibirsk is hosting the Technoprom-2019 international forum, running from September 18 to 20.  Russia has bridged the gap with technologically-advanced countries in key areas of future technologies, for example in quantum technology, Director of the Department for Innovation and Advanced Research at the Russian Ministry of Education and Science, Vadim Medvedev, told an international forum reviewing technological development in the Siberian city of Novosibirsk on Thursday.   Read more...
Russia launches life-size humanoid robot into space, September 18th, 2019:  Russia has launched a life-size humanoid robot into space for the first time to carry out tasks considered too dangerous for humans.  The Skybot F-850 started its journey to the International Space Station (ISS) at 2:38 a.m. London time, when it lifted off from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan aboard the Soyuz MS-14 spacecraft.  The unpiloted spacecraft, which is expected to reach the ISS on Sunday morning London time, was launched using a Soyuz-2.1a carrier rocket, which it has now separated from . Russia's Alrosa Seeks to Brighten up Its Fluorescent Diamond Sales, September 16th, 2019:  Diamond miners are seeking new approaches to battle falling demand.Russia's Alrosa is talking to several global jewelry retailers about jointly marketing the miner's jewelry brand that uses fluorescent diamonds, as it strives to create a new niche for the natural stones.  Diamond miners, which have long excelled at marketing, are seeking new approaches to battle falling demand and competition from diamonds manufactured in laboratories.  "We are completing talks with several major companies in different regions," Alrosa Chief Executive Sergei Ivanov told Reuters. Moldovan president says reset in relations with Russia will help boost cooperation, September 20th, 2019 In particular, Moldovagaz and Gazprom have reached a preliminary agreement to extend the current gas supplies contract for several years, Dodon saidA reset in Moldovan-Russian relations will help to enhance cooperation, Moldovan President Igor Dodon said at the second Moldovan-Russian Economic Forum on Friday. "I have once said that we are merely resetting Moldova's relations with Russia and the process is advancing at a good pace. Houston-Tyumen Sister Cities
Russia's Tyumen entrepreneurs eye to establish partnership in Azerbaijan, September 20th, 2019 Businessmen from Russia's Tyumen city, who will be in Baku from August 11-16, intend to establish ties with potential partners from Azerbaijan, Trend reports referring to Russian media outlets. The visit is organized by Export Support Center of the Tyumen region and will include business meetings and negotiations. Businessmen also are expected to visit the enterprises of importers in Baku. According to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Tyumen Region, representatives of companies such as Tyumen-Pribor LLC, Tyumen Machine-Building Plant (production of driven clutch disks for domestic and foreign freight and passenger vehicles), Zhizn company (peat and sapropel production) and SIBNA company (the latest technologies in the field of commercial accounting of energy resources) will participate in the negotiations. Southern Gas Corridor to bring needed diversification of supply to Europe: Int'l Gas Union, September 18th, 2019 Southern Gas Corridor project, which envisages transportation of Azerbaijani gas to Europe, will bring needed diversification of supply to Europe, the International Gas Union (IGU) told Trend.   The Southern Gas Corridor project is a welcomed development for diversification of supplies into Europe, according to IGU.  "Domestic production in Europe is on the decline and more imports will be needed. Projects such as the Southern Gas Corridor not only bring more needed supply to Europe, but they also bring needed diversification of supply thus enhancing the security of supply," said IGU . Flights from Kazakhstan to be received by all airports of Moscow, September 20th, 2019 All airports of Moscow will be connected to Kazakhstan before the end of 2019,   Trend   reports with reference to the press office of Embassy of Kazakhstan in Russia. This change is related to the introduction of new schedule of air flights, which will enter into force starting from October 27, 2019, due to the main air carrier of Kazakhstan Air Astana switching from Sheremetyevo to Domodedovo.  These changes have been discussed by Minister Counselor of Kazakhstan to Russia Nurzhan Kadzhiakbarov and CEO of Domodedovo Igor Borisov. Минсельхоз: новые проекты укрепят сотрудничество России и Молдавии, 19 Сентября 2019 г:  Министр сельского хозяйства России Дмитрий Патрушев на заседании молдавско-российской межправкомиссии, которое проходит в Кишиневе, заявил, что странам необходимо обсудить реализацию новых проектов, что выведет отношения между странами на новый уровень.  "Сегодняшняя встреча должна придать новый импульс развитию двусторонних отношений.
