Over 1,000 American firms of all sizes continue to do business in Russia, including Boeing, GE, United Technologies, Honeywell, 3M, John Deere, Procter & Gamble, ExxonMobil, Chevron, and others. Hundreds of Houston based companies are engaged with Russian businesses.
 
Houston is responsible for 20 percent of the overall U.S.-Russia trade. In addition to the energy sector, several other industries hold considerable opportunities for US companies in Russia, including agriculture, chemicals, IT, machinery, healthcare, and metals. During the seminar, participants will be provided with an overview of the current business climate in Russia and the available resources to assist them.

Born in the  city of Kislovodsk. Graduated magna cum laude from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (University) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Ph.D. (Economics). Gazprom looking to maintain and strengthen its leadership position in Europe while expanding into Asia

Gazprom.com, February 20, 2020: The Gazprom Managment Committee  took note of the information about the Company's international marketing  strategy. It was highlighted that Gazprom is the largest gas supplier to  Europe . In December, the Company started  delivering pipeline gas to China. In addition,  LNG  from the Gazprom Group's portfolio is being supplied to the Asia-Pacific region and elsewhere.  Gazprom's marketing strategy is aimed at maintaining and strengthening the Company's leadership position in the European market, as well as at scaling up its presence in Asia-Pacific and across the globe. The Company's competitive advantages include a vast resource base sufficient for providing reliable gas supplies to the domestic and foreign markets for many decades to come; a well-developed gas transmission system in Russia and a robust network of export routes; its own Electronic Trading Platform and e-trading capabilities; and a track record of strong partnerships with international energy companies.  Read more...
Baker Hughes Announces January 2020 Rig Counts

Investors.bakerhughes.com , February 17, 2020:   Baker Hughes  (NYSE: BKR) announced today that the  Baker Hughes  international rig count for  January 2020  was 1,078, down 26 from the 1,104 counted in  December 2019 , and up 54 from the 1,024 counted in  January 2019 . The international offshore rig count for  January 2020  was 245, down 12 from the 257 counted in  December 2019 , and up 3 from the 242 counted in  January 2019. Read more..

Russia's keeps stockpiling gold as bullion prices continue to surge

Russianbusinesstoday.com, Februry 20, 2020: Russia has continued filling its coffers with gold, having added almost 7 tons of the precious metal to its reserves in January.  The country's total gold holdings amounted to 73.2 million troy ounces (2,276.8 tons) as of February 1, and are worth around $116 billion, according to the latest data from the Central Bank of Russia (CBR).  The bullion stockpile comes at a time of gold price skyrocketing to a 7-year high, as traders have turned to traditional safe havens amid the coronavirus outbreak. The precious metal soared to $1619.20 per ounce on Thursday.   Read more..

Russian-Qatari cooperation in oil, gas sector to expand, says envoy to Doha

Tass.com, February 13, 2020:  Russia's Ambassador to Qatar Nurmahmad Kholov expects the cooperation between Moscow and Doha in the oil and gas sector to expand.  "Russia and Qatar actively cooperate in the oil and gas sector, including the field of hydrocarbons trade, experience and know how sharing," the diplomat said in an interview with TASS on Thursday.  Read more...

Miratorg Becomes First Russian Company to Export Beef to Brazil

Russiabusinesstoday.com , February 18, 2020: One of Russia's biggest meat producers, Miratorg , has announced that the first delivery of 13 tons of beef will soon be supplied to Brazil, marking the first time ever that Russian beef is being exported to the South American country, Sputnik Brazil reported. Trafigura to end relations with Rosneft Trading by mid-May due to sanctions

Tass.com, February 19, 2020:   Trafigura will meet requirements of the US Treasury Department that imposed sanctions on Rosneft Trading within 90 days provided, the Swiss-based trader said in a comment to TASS on Wednesday.  "Trafigura is aware of the addition by the US authorities of certain Rosneft entities to the Venezuela related designations and the associated general license. Trafigura complies with all applicable sanctions and will comply with the requirements of these latest rules within the wind-down timeline that has been set by the general license," a company's spokesperson said.   Read more..

Tyumen Companies Increase Their Cross-Border Sales

En.admtyumen.ru , February 17, 2020: Leonid Ostroumov, Director of the regional Department for Investment Policy and State Support of Entrepreneurship, reviewed the export performance of the companies in the Tyumen Region at the press conference held on the 11th of December in the Tyumen technology park."The foreign trade turnover is generally stable. We will have the complete data for 2019 in the beginning of 2020, but we can already see a minor increase in the volumes for the last 6 months. The volume of exports of Tyumen companies' goods has amounted to $1.27 billion, which is $200 million more than in the same period of 2018. The data show that the exporters that began their commercial activities last year continue operating and are ramping up sales of their products. Timesca.com, February 18, 2020: Foreign investors pumped $10 billion into the real sector of Belarusian economy (apart from banks) in 2019, BelTA learned from the National Statistics Committee. Among the main investors in Belarus were economic entities of Russia (45.1% of the total), the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (18%) and Cyprus (7.6%).FDI made up $7.2 billion, or 72.3% of the total foreign investments.  Read more...
Ilham Aliyev holds expanding meeting with Italian counterpart

Azernews.az, February 19. 2020:  An official welcome ceremony has been held for President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, who is in the Italian Republic for a state visit. Accompanied by the cavalry, President Aliyev arrived at the Quirinale Palace in Rome. A ceremonial guard of honor was arranged for the Azerbaijani president. President of Italy Sergio Mattarella and his daughter Laura Mattarella welcomed President Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva.   Read more..
