US Removes VSMPO-Avisma from List of Export Restrictions
1prime.biz, January 15, 2021: The U.S. has removed Russian titanium giant VSMPO-Avisma from the list of end military users subject to supply restrictions, the Department of Commerce reported on Friday. On December 22, the Department of Commerce presented a list of the first 58 Chinese and 45 Russian companies, including VSMPO-Avisma, that were banned from exporting U.S. technologies to the military end-users. 'Spend as Much as You Can,' IMF Head Urges Governments Worldwide
Reuters.com, January 15, 2021: Policymakers worldwide should embrace more spending to help revive their stuttering economies, the head of the International Monetary Fund said on Friday at Russia’s annual Gaidar economic forum. Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva did not give any specific economic forecasts, but made clear her desire for governments to up their spending and that a synchronised approach internationally was best for growth. Global Oil Demand to Recover in 2021 - Russia’s Deputy PM
Tass.com, January 14, 2021: The global oil demand will recover in 2021 but risks exist as well, Russian’s Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak told reporters on Thursday on the sidelines of the Gaidar Forum. "Positive indicators are in place. This is particularly related to proactive vaccination of the population in many countries and certification of new vaccine. Rosneft Discovers Field in Yakutia with Reserves of More than 75 bcm Gas
Interfax.com, January 12, 2021: Taas-Yuryakh Neftegazodobycha, a subsidiary of Rosneft, has discovered a new major gas-condensate field as the result of drilling an exploration well at the Nizhnedzherbinsky license section in the Sakha Republic or Yakutia, Rosneft said in a statement. As a result, more than 75 billion cubic meters of gas and 1.4 million tonnes of condensate have been put on the balance sheet of the State Reserves Commission. Read more...

The Volume of the Russian National Wealth Fund Tops $183.93bn as Gold Overtakes Dollar Asset for First Time
Intellinews.com, January 15, 2021: The volume of the Russian National Wealth Fund in December 2020 increased by RUB89bn ($1.21bn) to reach RUB13.546 trillion ($183.93bn) as of January 1, the Ministry of Finance said on January 13. At the same time, the CBR stopped buying gold in 2020, as it is now comfortable with the amount in reserves, but the share of gold in Russia’s reserves has exceeded its US dollar assets for the first time as the CBR continues to dump US T-bills and other securities. Russians Hold $180Bln Abroad – Tax Service

Kazakhstan’s MOST Business Incubator Launches Venture Fund for Best Technology Startups and Innovators
Astanatimes.com, January 13, 2021: Kazakhstan’s MOST Business Incubator launched a $10 million private venture fund in late December, the company’s press service reported. The MOST Ventures Fund I plans to invest in startups from Central Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, and Siberia. It is expected to organize acceleration programs in the Investment Readiness Accelerator format for early stage startups for further investments and invest in best technology startups targeting global markets at Seed and Series A stages.
