Clinical Trials of Sputnik V Vaccine as Nasal Drops to Begin in April - Minister Manturov
Interfax.com, February 9, 2021: Clinical trials of the Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine in the form of nasal drops are due to begin in April, Russian Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov said in an interview with Interfax. "At the moment, the Gamaleya Institute and the Generium company are developing an intranasal form of the vaccine, whose clinical trials are due to begin in April for launching serial production in the later period," Manturov said. Rusal Maintains Aluminum Output in 2020 at 3.755 Million Tonnes
Tass.com, February 8, 2021: Russian aluminum giant Rusal’s production in 2020 totaled 3.755 million tonnes of aluminum, which is almost the same level compared to 2019, according to the company's operating results published on Monday on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. The company produced 3.757 million tonnes of aluminum in 2019, which is 0.1% higher than in 2020. Read more...

Russian National Projects Soften Investment Decline in Russia in 2020
Russiabusinesstoday.com, February 10, 2021: Implementation of national projects, in particular, measures within the framework of the Comprehensive Plan of the Backbone Infrastructure, could mitigate decline in investments in Russia in 2020, according to Head of the Center for Investment Analysis and Macroeconomic Research at the Center for Strategic Research (CSR) Daniil Nametkin. Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov announced on February 9 that the decline in investment in Russia at the end of 2020 is estimated at 4.3%, which is a “good result” in current conditions. IMF Expects Russian Economy to Speed up Recovery in mid-2021
1prime.biz, February 9, 2021: The International Monetary Fund (IMF) expects recovery of the Russian economy to speed up in the middle of 2021 due to the weakening risks connected to the COVID-19 pandemic, the fund said in a report on Russia published on Tuesday. The pandemic’s second wave will slow down, the vaccines will appear, and reduction of oil production will shrink gradually under the OPEC+ oil deal. Evraz Mine Starts Mining New Coal Seam after Investing 6 bln Rubles
Interfax.com, February 8, 2021: Raspadskaya Coal Company's Uskovskaya mine has launched the first longwall of Seam 48, the company, which manages the coal assets of Evraz Group, said. The seam has in-place reserves of 167 million tonnes of GZh rank coking coal, which is expected to be "enough for 25 years of stable operations" at the mine. Read more...

Foreign Investments in Belarus at $8.7bn in 2020
Eng.belta.by, February 11, 2021: Foreign investors injected $8.7 billion into the real sector of Belarusian economy (apart from banks) in 2020, BelTA learned from the National Statistics Committee. Among the main investors in Belarus were economic entities of Russia (41.4% of the total), Cyprus (9.4%), Austria (7.4%), and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (6.8%). Власти Готовят Новые Меры Поддержки Пострадавших Отраслей
1prime.ru, Февраль 8, 2021: Президент России Владимир Путин предложил с 1 июня запустить специальные кредиты под 2% на поддержку занятости в компаниях из пострадавших от коронавируса отраслей. Срок погашения кредита — 1 апреля 2021 года. Если в течение всего срока действия кредитной программы предприятие будет сохранять занятость на уровне 90% и выше от своей нынешней штатной численности, то после истечения срока кредита сам кредит и проценты по нему будут полностью списаны, эти расходы возьмет на себя государство.
