High Global Demand Sends Russian Urals Crude Oil Price Soaring
Russiabusinesstoday.com, May 6, 2021: Russia’s Ministry of Finance said on Wednesday that the average price for domestic Urals oil benchmark stood at $62.50 per barrel in April, which is a 340% increase in annual terms. According to the ministry, in the first four months of the year the average price for the Russian export oil brand was $60.47 per barrel, compared with the average price of $41.04 per barrel during the same period of 2020. Russia's Business and Consumer Confidence Surveys Delivered Very Positive Results
Intellinews.com, May 4, 2021: Spirits in Russia are picking up as both Rosstat’s business and consumer confidence surveys delivered very positive results. The consumer confidence index, which reflects the aggregate consumer expectations of the population, in the first quarter of 2021 compared to the fourth quarter of 2020 increased by 5 percentage points (pp) and amounted to -21% – its best result in a year. 47,000 SME Projects to Receive Preferential Lending in 2021
Astanatimes.com, May 5, 2021: In 2021, 47,000 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) will receive preferential lending, said Kazakh Minister of National Economy Aset Irgaliyev at a May 4 government meeting. Azerbaijan Railways Boosts Cargo Transportation in 1Q2021
Azernews.az, May 4, 2021: Azerbaijan Railways transported 3.7 million tons of cargo in the first quarter of 2021, which is 7 percent more compared to the same period of last year, local media has reported. Of the total cargo transportation, 1.9 million tons accounted for international shipments. During the reported period, the volume of transit traffic increased by 10.9 percent, reaching 1.2 million tons, while domestic freight traffic decreased by 18.6 percent to 582,300 tons. Read more...

Launch of New Investment Cycle Described as Matter of National Importance for Belarus
Eng.belta.by, May 6, 2021: The launch of a new investment cycle is a task of national importance. The task was formulated by the head of state during the 6th Belarusian People's Congress. Over Br200 billion will have to be invested over the course of five years in order to reach the targeted growth parameters. To this effect the Economy Ministry is working with other government agencies to put together a set of measures. The work is expected to secure an increase in investments in the economy up to 23% of the GDP in 2025, Belarusian Economy Minister Aleksandr Chervyakov told BelTA in an interview. Read more...

Россия Сократила Долю Доллара и Евро в Резервах
1prime.ru, Май 6, 2021: Банк России в 2020 году снизил долю евро, доллара и фунта стерлингов в международных резервах страны в пользу золота, юаня и прочих валют, следует из годового отчета регулятора. Так, доля евро в международных резервах за прошлый год сократилась на 1,6 процентного пункта и на 1 января составила 29,2%, доля доллара – на 3,3 процентного пункта, до 21,2%.
