ASTM International and API Partner to Harmonize Petroleum Standards in West Africa

Astm.org, May 13, 2021: Global standards organization ASTM International and the American Petroleum Institute (API) today announced a partnership on a project aimed at harmonizing petroleum standards in the West African region, with impact in Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Nigeria, and Senegal. Russia’s Oil Reserves Will Last Through 2080 – Government

Themoscowtimes.com, May 11, 2021: Russia’s vast oil reserves are enough to last until at least 2080 at current production levels, the head of Russia’s Natural Resources Ministry said Tuesday. In an interview with the RBC news website, Natural Resources Minister Alexander Kozlov said Russia has the equivalent of 59 years of oil deposits and 103 years of gas reserves. The true scale of fossil fuel deposits under Russia’s soil could be even larger, but will require additional state support to accelerate exploration in hard-to-reach areas, such as beneath the Arctic permafrost, Kozlov added. Cabinet to Allocate $202 mln for Arctic Development Program in Three Years, Says PM

Russia to Postpone Ban on U.S. Embassy Hiring Foreign Staff, says U.S.

Reuters.com, May 14, 2021: The Russian government intends to postpone the enforcement of a ban on the U.S. embassy hiring foreign staff, the U.S. Embassy in Moscow said on Friday, adding that it would temporarily resume routine services for U.S. citizens. The embassy had said last month it was cutting consular staff by 75% and that from May 12 it would stop processing non-immigrant visas for non-diplomatic travel, after the Kremlin accused Washington of fueling tension with “unfriendly actions”. Coal Processing Plant Opens in Karaganda Region

Astanatimes.com, May 14, 2021: The Qaz Carbon company launched a processing plant producing high-quality low-ash coal on May 11 in the Karaganda region, according to the press service of the Development Bank of Kazakhstan. The plant’s capacity is 300 tons of coal per hour or two million tons per year. Some 110 new jobs have already been created. Read more...

По данным Росстата, спад ВВП РФ в четвертом квартале 2020 года замедлился до 1,8% в годовом выражении после снижения на 3,5% в третьем квартале. По итогам прошлого года, спад ВВП РФ составил 3%.
