Thursday, June 17, 2021: "Invest in USA Series: Part 2 - Commercial Real Estate Market: Challenges and Opportunities"
|
|
On Thursday, June 17th, the USRCC hosted "Invest in USA Series: Part 2 - Commercial Real Estate Market: Challenges and Opportunities" panel discussion in a webinar format. The event was sponsored by the USRCC's member Moody Rambin, the national commercial brokerage firm.
Over 80 registrants from USA, Russia and CIS were engaged in discussion of supply chain and construction challenges, post-COVID new design challenges from development to end-user, current real estate investment climate, and advantages of the U.S. commercial real estate market and current projects.
The pandemic added to the softening of the office market in USA and Houston specifically thus creating opportunities for office tenants to make better long term lease transactions on office space. Buyers are also looking for investment properties to take advantage of an office building market that is forecast to improve in 2022 and beyond.
The following industry experts have made their presentations during the Webinar:
-
C. Hastings (Hasty) Johnson, Vice Chairman, Hines;
-
Jim Autenreith, Executive Vice President, Industrial and Investment Services, Moody Rambin;
-
Tom Ford, Vice President, Moody Rambin;
-
Bruce Walck, President, Powers Brown Architecture;
-
Gary Kelley, President, Tribble & Stephens
The event was followed by a Q&A session moderated by Ross Ford, President and CEO, TCN Worldwide. Panelists ranging from major international developer / landlord, national commercial brokerage firm, an international architectural firm and national construction company answered questions related to using different materials in construction and design to shorten the timeline, decision making processes, challenges of major urban centers, changes of tenants' needs, foreign investors' demands, and many others.

Mercury Resources, June 18, 2021: Catch Anton Posner on Bloomberg News TV today at 4:30pm New York time talking supply chain, and listen to comments from Anton Posner and Margo Brock on the Bloomberg Odd Lots podcast below:
By this point, you're aware that shipping anything internationally is pretty tough right now. It turns out, it's getting worse. Earlier in the year, Tracy tried shipping a teddy bear from Hong Kong to the U.S. on a vessel, but, for a variety of reasons, it ended up not working out. At least she tried. Right now, she wouldn't even be able to try because international shipping has gotten that much more messed up. So what's behind this logistical nightmare? On this episode, we speak with Mercury Group CEO Anton Posner and President Margo Brock for a granular deep dive into the state of shipping and why it's so hard for Tracy (and even shippers with higher dollar value goods for sale) to get space on a vessel right now.
