On Tuesday, June 22nd, the USRCC hosted its “by invitation only” webinar “Energy Dialogue: Part 2 - State of Energy Industry and Its Future” with PJSC “LUKOIL” Chairman of the Board Ravil Maganov. More than 60 executives from United States of America and Russia representing such companies as PJSC “LUKOIL”, Parker Drilling, Baker Hughes, Halliburton, Sulzer GTC Technology, Neftegaz, Mitsui, Miller and Lents, ASTM International, JSC “NEK”, Total, Moody Rambin, Flotek Industries, IHS Markit, Optimized Gas Treating, the University of Houston and many others attended this event.
 
The event started with welcome remarks from the U.S.-Russia Chamber of Commerce.
 
Mr. Maganov in his presentation covered LUKOIL’s vision for the oil & gas industry future and LUKOIL’s energy transition. Mr. Maganov presented several liquids demand scenarios for stricter climate regulations. Also, Mr. Maganov emphasized the important issue of achieving zero poverty, as around 800 million people still have no access to electricity. Hydrocarbon demand prospects were also covered during his presentation. Mr. Maganov stressed LUKOIL’s ambition to achieve net zero emissions by 2050. LUKOIL is looking at a broad list of climate opportunities such as production of green hydrogen, biofuels and methanol with CO2 capture. 
 
The Energy Dialogue was moderated by John Gibson, President and CEO of Flotek Industries. Some of following questions were addressed by Mr. Maganov during the moderated Q&A session:
  • Carbon capture utilization and storage in terms of sequestration;
  • LUKOIL diversification into alternative energy: solar, wind, nuclear, geothermal, HPP;
  • Hydrogen strategy of LUKOIL;
  • Digital transformation of LUKOIL across its broad international business while avoiding cloud technologies;
  • The carbon tax burden compromise between producers and consumers;
  • Production decline impact as a result of COVID-19 pandemic. 

Mr. Maganov concluded his remarks by stressing LUKOIL's mission to be a responsible producer of hydrocarbons with a focus on decreasing its global carbon footprint.
USRCC Upcoming Events
The U.S. aerospace sector is considered the largest in the world and is the main supplier of both military and civil aerospace hardware to the rest of the world. Aviation is one of the fastest-growing industries in the United States, and it has increased yearly at the rate of at least 14% despite the challenges the industry faced the past years. The industry is also a world leader in advancing science and technology. Aerospace systems have a very high value per unit weight and are among the most complex, as measured by the number of components in finished products.

Novatek and Gazprom Neft Pair up with Russian Steel Giant in Decarbonisation Push

Nord Stream 2 AG Files for Status of Independent Gas Operator

1prime.biz, June 24, 2021: Nord Stream 2 AG, the operator of Russian natural gas pipeline Nord Stream 2, has filed an application for certification as an independent gas transmission system operator, the company said in a statement on Thursday. The company continues its ongoing litigation and arbitration proceedings in relations to amendments to the E.U. Gas Directive introduced in 2019. Газпром Начал Строить в Кузбассе Завод по Производству Сжиженного Природного Газа

Gazeta.ru, Июнь 24, 2021: ООО "Газпром добыча Кузнецк" начал строить новый завод по производству сжиженного природного газа на Нарыкско-Осташкинском метаноугольном месторождении в Кемеровской области. НОВАТЭК Ведет Переговоры с Mitsui по Проекту на Ямале

Kommersant.ru, Июнь 24, 2021: По данным “Ъ”, НОВАТЭК ведет переговоры с японской Mitsui о вхождении в экспортный проект по производству аммиака в Сабетте — «Обский ГХК». Таким образом, НОВАТЭК может привлечь в проект партнера, который также выступит и покупателем аммиака. Первая очередь завода мощностью 2,2 млн тонн, по данным “Ъ”, должна быть запущена в 2026 году, также возможна вторая очередь. Проектом предусматривается улавливание и утилизация CO2.
