Lukoil Reports Preliminary Operating Data for the Second Quarter and Six Months of 2021, August 9, 2021: For the six months of 2021 LUKOIL Group's average hydrocarbon production excluding the West Qurna-2 project was 2,109 thousand boe per day, which is 2.1% lower year-on-year, while in the second quarter of 2021 hydrocarbon production increased by 4.2% year-on-year. The production dynamics was attributable to the dynamics of the external limitations on oil production due to the OPEC+ agreement. Hydrocarbon production was 4.0% lower quarter-on-quarter due to the dynamics of gas production in Uzbekistan. Read more...

API Signs MOU With Guyana National Standards Agency To Advance Best-In-Class Industry Practices, August 13, 2021: Today, the American Petroleum Institute (API) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Guyana National Bureau of Standards (GNBS), which provides Guyana’s primary standards setting agency access to API oil and gas standards and increases collaboration on safety guidelines and requirements for the country’s growing energy industry. Read more...

Russia Postpones Restrictions on Gasoline Exports, August 11, 2021: According to the Vedomosti newspaper, the Russian government agreed not to implement a restriction on gasoline exports after a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak. Evgeny Arkusha, the head of the Russian Fuel Union, confirmed the decision. Another source informed that oil firms have been allowed until September to fix wholesale gasoline prices. Read more...
Why Russian Oil Giant Lukoil Won’t Give Up On This Huge Oilfield, August 10, 2021: There was always something that did not look quite right about Lukoil’s recent announcement that it was going to withdraw from Iraq’s huge West Qurna 2 oil field, located 65 kilometers northwest of the southern port of Basra and with roughly 14 billion barrels of reserves in place. Scientists Say Novorossiysk Oil Spill at 80 sq km, Not 200 sq m, August 11, 2021: The area of an oil products spill near the city of Novorossiysk turned out to be 80 square kilometers, not 200 square meters like Caspian Pipeline Consortium said previously, the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences said in a statement on Wednesday citing data of satellite images. “The spill is significantly bigger than announced previously, as the area of oil contamination amounted to almost 80 square kilometers at the moment of radar photography.
