On September 14, 2021, the USRCC held its virtual Energy Dialogue: Part 3 "State of Energy Industry and Its Future" with Lorenzo Simonelli, Chairman and CEO, Baker Hughes.
Over 80 registrants from U.S.A., Russia and CIS, representing British Petroleum, ExxonMobil, Neftegaz, JSC "NEK", Derrick Corporation, Kinder Morgan, Cargil, 23rd World Petroleum Congress, TMK, Amazon, Shell, Rusk Capital Management, McKinsey, BPB ENERGY, and many other companies were involved in lively discussion of energy industry transformation, renewable energy sources, future of hydrocarbons, role of sustainability, and other related topics.
John Gibson, President and CEO of Flotek Industries, served as Energy Dialogue moderator.
During the Dialogue Mr. Simonelli highlighted the role of Baker Hughes in carbon capture, utilization and storage, CO2 reduction, and commitment to net zero. Mr. Simonelli also emphasized the importance of cooperation between US and Russian companies.
The Energy Dialogue audience addressed questions regarding future technologies development, carbon market pricing, renewable energy sources, including, solar, wind and geothermal energy, emissions and carbon reduction targets, and many others.

On September 15, 2021, the USRCC held its 4th Women's Leadership Speaker Series event in a webinar format, moderated by Melody Meyer, Independent Non-executive Director, British Petroleum, Chair of the Safety and Sustainability and Member of the Remuneration Committees.
This year's conversation was focused on the diversity of the board representation, global projects experience and overview, energy transition, successful company culture, and other topics.
Machteld De Haan, President, Shell Lubricants Americas, and Decie Autin, Vice President, Central Project Management, ExxonMobil Global Projects, shared their thoughts and experience with the audience.

Carbon Capture and Storage Gains Wide Industry Support in Houston
Exxonmobil.com, September 14, 2021: Eleven companies have expressed interest in supporting the large-scale deployment of carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology in Houston. Calpine, Chevron, Dow, ExxonMobil, INEOS, Linde, LyondellBasell, Marathon Petroleum, NRG Energy, Phillips 66 and Valero have agreed to begin discussing plans that could lead to capturing and safely storing up to 50 million metric tons of CO2 per year by 2030 and about 100 million metric tons by 2040. Shell to Build One of Europe’s Biggest Biofuels Facilities
Shell.com, September 16, 2021: Royal Dutch Shell plc (Shell) today announced a final investment decision to build an 820,000-tonnes-a-year biofuels facility at the Shell Energy and Chemicals Park Rotterdam, the Netherlands, formerly known as the Pernis refinery. Lukoil, Gazprom Neft Create JV Based on Meretoyakhaneftegaz with Reserves of 1 bln Tonnes Oil, 500 bcm Gas
Interfax.com, September 16, 2021: Lukoil and Gazprom Neft have signed an agreement on creating a joint venture to develop a major oil and gas cluster in the Nadym-Pur-Tazovsky area of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District, the companies said. The JV will be based on Meretoyakhaneftegaz LLC, a Gazprom Neft subsidiary. The Tazovskoye oil and gas condensate field, which was put on stream this June, will be at heart of the new production area. The venture is also to develop the Severo-Samburgskoye and Meretoyakhinskoye fields, as well as two Zapadno-Yubileyny license blocks. Read more...

JODI: Russia Remains World's 2nd Largest Oil Producer in July
1prime.biz, September 16, 2021: Russia retained its position of the world’s second largest oil producer after the U.S. in July, when its output grew by 0.8% on the month to 9.831 million barrels per day, the Joint Organizations Data Initiative (JODI) said in a report on Thursday. Russian Oil Major Rosneft Gets Closer to Gas Exports

Russian Firms With Foreign Links Down 40% in 3 Years
Themoscowtimes.com, September 17, 2021: The number of businesses with foreign shareholders operating in Russia has dropped by 40% over the last three years amid international sanctions, the coronavirus pandemic and Russia’s drive to isolate its economy. Business consultants Kontur found the number of businesses with foreign participation — where a non-Russian company or individual owns a stake in the company — fell to 28,400 in August, according to research published Friday. Kazakhstan’s Economy Recovers to Pre-Pandemic Levels, Says Kazakh PM
Astanatimes.com, September 16, 2021: Kazakhstan’s economy has reached pre-pandemic levels and continues to recover, achieving a three percent growth in the first eight months of 2021, said Kazakh Prime Minister Askar Mamin at a government meeting on Tuesday. Growth in the manufacturing sector reached 5.8 percent, 9.1 percent in trade, 12.8 percent in communications, and 11.4 percent in construction.
