St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF)
The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) is a unique event in the world of business and economics. SPIEF has been held since 1997, and since 2006, it has been held under the auspices of the President of the Russian Federation, who has also attended each event.
Over the last 24 years, the Forum has become a leading global platform for members of the business community to meet and discuss the key economic issues facing Russia, emerging markets, and the world as a whole.
The 25th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum is set to take place on 15–18 June 2022. As in previous years, the business program will focus on the global and Russian economies, social issues, and technological development.
The Forum will be held in strict accordance with health and safety measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, carefully drawn up by the Organizing Committee in line with the WHO recommendations. SPIEF 2022 will provide a full range of services to enable participants to effectively nurture and expand their business network and enjoy safe, productive participation, including in an enriching cultural and sporting program.

A landmark event in the energy industry’s calendar, and the world’s largest meeting place for the global gas, LNG, hydrogen, and energy value chain, Gastech 2022 will take place from 5-8 September, at Fiera Milano, Italy.  

As the largest exhibition of its kind, Gastech Milan will provide space for 1,000 exhibitors to showcase the value that they can bring to the industry. Conference attendees can look forward to hearing from over 900 speakers in sessions covering the latest commercial and technical developments as well as insights from over 400 ministers, CEOs, and policymakers.

Shell Completes Acquisition of Energy Retailer, Powershop Australia

Shell.com, February 1, 2022: Shell Energy Operations Pty Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Shell plc (“Shell”) has completed the acquisition of Powershop Australia (“Powershop”), an online energy retailer serving more than 185,000 customers. Powershop will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Shell under the Powershop brand within the Shell Energy business in Australia, which is part of Shell’s global Renewables and Energy Solutions business. President of Kazakhstan Receives Head of LUKOIL

Lukoil.com, February 2, 2022: Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, received Vagit Alekperov, head of LUKOIL Company, today in the city of Nur-Sultan. The parties discussed ongoing projects in Kazakhstan involving LUKOIL, as well as a number of promising projects that could boost cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan in fuel and energy sphere. President of LUKOIL thanked the Kazakhstan leader for regular dialogue and support of foreign investors. Apple Bows to Kremlin Demands for Local Office

Themoscowtimes.com, February 4, 2021: Apple has opened a representative office in Russia, the Roskomnadzor communications watchdog said Friday, becoming the first company to comply with the Kremlin's new rules requiring foreign technology firms to localize their operations in the country. Under a new law, some 13 foreign technology companies are required to open local offices and fulfill a string of other technical requirements, like add a Russian-language feedback form to their website, or face hefty fines. Russian Diesel Exports to U.S. at Three-Year High

Oilprice.com, February 4, 2022: Russian exports of diesel to the United States last month hit the highest in three years as typical winter weather drove higher demand for heating and power generation in the Northeast. Bloomberg reported that some 1.55 million barrels of diesel were currently traveling from Russia to the United States, due to arrive by the end of this month, data from Vortexa has shown. Gazprom Neft Acquires 51% in Fueling Complex of Osh International Airport in Kyrgyzstan

Interfax.com, January 31, 2022: PJSC Gazprom Neft has included Gazprom Neft Aero Osh LLC into the list of affiliated entities at the end of 2021, the oil company said in its materials. Gazprom Neft-Aero, the operator of Gazprom Neft's aviation fuel business, completed a deal to acquire a 51% stake in the authorized capital of the refueling complex at Osh International Airport in Kyrgyzstan, the Gazprom Neft press service told Interfax. "The new enterprise will provide 'in-wing' fueling for domestic and international flights at the nation's second largest airport by passenger traffic. Aviation fuel is to be supplied from Gazprom Neft's Omsk Refinery," the press service said. Read more...
Russian Nationals Now Eligible to Claim One Free Arctic Hectare of Land – the European Russia Opportunities

Oilprice.com, February 2, 2022: Russian nationals can now claim one free hectare of land in the countries Arctic zone as the government seeks to expand its development. The Arctic Hectare program now extends to all Russians nationwide from yesterday (February 1, 2022) after a six-month period in which only existing Arctic residents were eligible. Belarus Approves Belarus-Russia Draft Agreement on Microelectronics

Oil Refining Capacity Expected to Reach 17.9 Million Tons in 2022, Says Top Official

Astanatimes.com, February 4, 2022: Oil refining capacity is expected to reach 17.9 million tons in 2022, said Kazakh Minister of Energy Bolat Akchulakov during a February 3 press conference at the Central Communications Center. Oil refining capacity of three largest refineries including the Atyrau Oil Refinery, Pavlodar Oil Chemistry Refinery and PetroKazakhstan Oil Products reached 17 million tons in 2021, which is 107.7 percent compared to 2020.
