Description: Internationally acclaimed artist Marilyn Johansen will discuss her latest exhibition honoring the military and celebrating the commissioning of the USS Fort Lauderdale (LPD 28). Join us in Terminal 4 at Port Everglades as she discusses this touching and very personal salute to our heroes in uniform – both past and present.

Patriotic Concert by South Florida Symphony
Tuesday, July 26
Description: This FREE patriotic concert performed by musicians from the South Florida Symphony Orchestra will be one of the highlights of the Commissioning Week activities. The musical program will include rousing marches, toe-tapping Broadway and pop favorites, and inspiring patriotic anthems for the entire family.

Lone Sailor Wreath Laying and Remembrance Ceremony

Description: As we celebrate the heroes of today aboard the USS Fort Lauderdale during Commissioning Week, we take an opportunity to remember the heroes of yesterday. Join Captain James Quaresimo, city of Fort Lauderdale officials, Commissioning Committee leaders and other distinguished guests this afternoon for a solemn Wreath Laying and Remembrance Ceremony at the Lone Sailor Statue on the Riverwalk.
Time: 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm
Location: Riverwalk at Esplanade Park, 400 SW 2nd Ave. in downtown Fort Lauderdale (near the Broward Center for the Performing Arts)

Virtual Ship Tour and Lecture/Q&A with the Crew

Description: Join us at Port Everglades for a virtual ship tour of the USS Fort Lauderdale (LPD 28). Thanks to the latest high-definition video technology, Captain James Quaresimo and the crew will welcome you aboard, and then you will be guided through the Navy’s newest amphibious transport dock on two LED jumbotron screens. Your virtual tour will then be followed by a live Q&A session with members of the crew.
