IN THE NEWS:

We were honored to partner with the Tulsa Regional STEM Alliance to help promote skills and interest in STEM fields and Tulsa's newest namesake United States Navy ship, the future USS TULSA (LCS 16).

Over 100 students competed in the USS Tulsa themed Cardboard and Duct Tape Regatta this year. Great work and congratulations to all!

About the Committee:

The USS TULSA (LCS 16) Commissioning Committee's primary objective is to support the Navy, Sailors of the ship's crew and their families. As the community whose name this ship will carry around the world, it is our responsibility to bring our namesake ship into the Navy's fleet in fitting fashion.

The responsibilities of the Committee include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide a memorable Commissioning for the future USS Tulsa (LCS 16).

  • Create and foster public awareness among the citizens of Tulsa, the State of Oklahoma, and the nation of the future USS Tulsa (LCS 16), and its mission and importance to the US Navy.

  • Finance appropriate events and activities associated with these objectives by supplementing the limited funds provided by the US Navy for customary and expected social activities.

  • Promote lasting relationships and enduring support between the our namesake community
and the crews of the future USS Tulsa (LCS 16) in honor of the sacrifice made by the men and women who serve on her in defense of our nation.
Construction Milestones:

“So when the ship’s been christened,  it would then go out to sea, right?  Or, is that the commissioning?  H ave they put the ship into the water yet?  And, when do they break the champagne bottle?”

Just as there are many milestones in the life of a Navy ship, there are currently a number of significant milestones and evolutions involved in bringing that ship to life.
