Wreaths Across America
The Freedom Riders USA, a Veterans Motorcycle Riding Club, has become a sponsor of “Wreaths Across America”, a very worthwhile cause. It involves the placing of a wreath for $15.00 on a Veteran’s Grave during the Holiday Season. The cemetery they have selected is: Jordan Cemetery, 240 Boston Post Road in Waterford, Ct. 06385.

If you are interested you can also volunteer to help place the wreaths on the veteran grave sites. Please follow the link below to find out more information about this program and how to purchase a wreath. You can also use this site to identify groups in your local area to make a donation if you so desire.  The deadline for ordering Wreaths is fast approaching! If you have not donated and wish to do so please follow the donate prompts.

Chaplain's List
Call, send a note, or a visit - A phone call or a visit from a shipmate means a lot, even if you don't know the person.   If anyone knows of a shipmate that should be added, I don’t. Please let me know.
A reminder, there are many who have recently had or are having scheduled surgery. In most cases they have asked that I don’t put their names on this list. Your thoughts and prayers are requested for each of them.

Also, I do send an Eternal Patrol certificate and a letter of condolence to the spouse or child of a Groton Base member whenever I hear of their passing.  National does a fine job of letting me know, however, some fall through the cracks. Let me know if you hear of one’s passing.

It is my duty to report that shipmate Kenneth Scott had departed on Eternal Patrol on 10/15/18. Ken was an EM2(SS) when he left the service. He qualified on the USS Abe Lincoln in 1967.  He was a resident of East Hampton, Long Island, N.Y.

Also, it is my duty to inform you that James Drozdz QMC(SS) USN Ret passed on 11/3/18. Letters of condolence and E.P. certificates have been mailed.

Binnacle List

Please say a prayer for all who may also be under the weather including spouses and relatives. Special note: This should include those who are suffering from some debilitating illness, and may be in a nursing home, etc. There are many who come to mind that had previously been on this list.

Notice: The Pearl Harbor ceremony will be at the Municipal Building in Groton City on the 7th of Dec. Time is 1258 local time.  Please be there by 1230.

God bless. Jack
