Albuquerque Academy Racquet Center

On Saturday, March 29th, approximately 150 people gathered to celebrate the newly opened Albuquerque Academy Racquet Center. Julianne Puente, Head of School, kicked off the ceremony thanking the Garcia Family, USTA Southwest, Vincent Cordova & Family, and Darell Gage & Family. Michelle Deng and Austin Curtis, seniors on the Albuquerque Academy Varsity Tennis teams also spoke about their years at the Academy and how much tennis has had a positive influence on their lives.

Vincent Cordova and Darell Gage were honored for their dedication to the Albuquerque Academy. Cordova was a math teacher and basketball and track coach from 1969 - 2002. Gage was also a math teacher and coached tennis, football, and basketball from 1965 - 2015. Both teachers had an impact on the Garcia Automotive Group family who generously donated $1 million dollars to the Darell Gage Courts and Vincent Cordova Summer Scholars Program.

The newly refreshed facility includes 14 tennis courts and 8 pickleball courts. The Racquet Center is a USTA Member organization and offers year-round recreational and competitive racquet sports programming.
