USTAR INNOVATION CENTER OPENS
The Utah Science, Technology and Research Initiative, the state's tech-focused economic development agency, opened a new facility near Hill Air Force Base aimed at seeding new, Utah-based aerospace and innovation companies.

USTAR OPENS UTAG FUNDING ROUND
Required Letter of Intent Due November 29 by 5 p.m.

USTAR is now accepting letters of intent from researchers at Utah’s nonprofit universities and colleges who want to apply to the University Technology Acceleration Grant (UTAG) program.  

UTAG is designed to accelerate the development of commercially viable technology in the university setting that has potential for positive economic impact in Utah. Projects should fit one of USTAR’s targeted sectors. These include Aerospace, Automation and Robotics, Big Data and Cybersystems, Energy and Clean Technology, and Life Sciences.  

Letters of intent (LOI) must be received by November 29, 5:00 p.m. MST to be considered for this round and must use the provided USTAR template. Letters of Intent will be accepted or rejected within five (5) business days. Proposers of those accepted will receive information on submitting a full proposal. Those rejected, if received prior to November 22, can resubmit if deficiencies are addressed.

INERTIAL SENSE ANNOUNCES BREAKTHROUGH IN NAVIGATION TECHNOLOGY
Inertial Sense, a USTAR Technology Acceleration Program awardee, recently announced a breakthrough in navigation technology - news that they have the world’s smallest micro-INS. The Inertial Sense navigation system boasts s tiny footprint (smaller than 3 stacked dimes), precision positioning capabilities and simplified integration into multiple technologies including drones, robotics, and payload devices.

“The Inertial Sense platform is the world’s smallest sensor module of its kind,” explained Walt Johnson, CEO of Inertial Sense. “It provides high-quality direction, position, and velocity data for multiple applications by intelligently fusing sensor data from GPS (GNSS), gyros, accelerometers, magnetometers and a barometric pressure sensor.”...
