Greetings Members

Thank you for your prompt response and commitment to safety this week as Hurricane Dorian passed over the territory. It is our goal to keep an open line of communication with members in such emergencies, and we thank you for taking the time to report on the status of your staff and guests while continuing to prepare for the storm. We are thankful Dorian has passed and look forward to getting back to business!

VIPA to Host Public Meeting to Present Crown Bay District 20-Year Vision Plan
The master plan to revitalize the Crown Bay District on St. Thomas has been completed and the Virgin Islands Port Authority wants to share the final concept with the community. VIPA will host a public meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 5 in the Crown Bay Center Cruise Lounge at 161-A Subbase, St. Thomas. The 20-Year Vision Plan developed by Moffatt and Nichol combines suggestions presented by the community at a charrette held Nov. 15, 2018; community, stakeholder and cruise passenger surveys; feedback from cruise line officials; and the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA). Akis Neocleous Announced General Manager of The Ritz-Carlton, St. Thomas
It gives us great pleasure to announce Akis Neocleous as the new general manager of The Ritz-Carlton, St. Thomas (currently scheduled to re-open in October). A native of Cyprus, Akis graduated from Glion Institute of Higher Education in Switzerland, and then began his career with InterContinental Hotels & Resorts in Venezuela. Since then, he has happily pursued his career throughout the Caribbean and Latin America. Read more.
Caribbean Travel Marketplace Open for Registration
The 2020 Caribbean Travel Marketplace at Baha Mar in the Bahamas is now open for registration. The Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA), producers of the Caribbean's largest and longest-standing tourism marketing event, has started its countdown for the 38th Marketplace, taking place Jan. 21 to 23, 2020. FEMA Update: September is National Preparedness Month
National Preparedness Month happens every September to remind us to prepare ourselves, our families and our communities for the disasters and emergencies that could happen where we live, work and visit. Each week will highlight important steps to prepare for emergencies with weekly themes. Additionally, On Sept. 4, FEMA will host a 30-minute webinar, "Emergencies and Disasters: Are You Financially Prepared?" to provide financial tools and resources for individuals, families, communities and community organizations. Seaborne Airlines Reservation Change for Travel Starting Sept. 1, 2019
As Seaborne Airlines and Silver Airways continue streamlining their operation to one airline, bookings for Seaborne’s current network will be hosted on Silver’s Sabre reservation system for travel starting Sept. 1. Flights operated by Seaborne are now available for sale at silverairways.com. This change applies to all Seaborne Airlines flights in the Caribbean with the exception of the airline’s seaplane operations at St. Croix’s Christiansted Harbor Seaplane Base and St. Thomas’ Charlotte Amalie Harbor Seaplane Base.
