VITEMA Director Encourages Residents to Be Ready as 2020 Atlantic Hurricane Season Nears its Peak
Daryl Jaschen, Director of the Virgin Islands Territorial Emergency Management Agency (VITEMA), is encouraging the public to take time now to make sure they are ready for the 2020 Atlantic Hurricane Season. The season is heading into its peak, from August to October, when the frequency of storms is expected to increase. VITEMA continues to coordinate with all government agencies, its federal partners and non-government organizations to ensure the territory is prepared to respond in the event a storm. This coordination effort includes the distribution of sandbags, readying shelters, shoring up communications capabilities and much more. Read more.
CHTA AGM 2020 - Call for Nominations of President and Officers 2020-2022 Biennium
Due to the pandemic, CHTA’s Annual General meeting is rescheduled for Oct. 16. This will be a virtual meeting which is now permissible due to recent revisions to CHTA’s Bylaws. At the 2020 Annual General Meeting of the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association, the CHTA Board of Directors will be asked to elect a new president, five vice presidents and a treasurer. Normally, the president-elect automatically assumes the position of president, but due to unforeseen circumstances, the president-elect is unable to assume the post, hence the need to also elect a new president.

New FEMA.gov Coming July 29
On July 29, FEMA will launch the redesigned fema.gov website. The redesign focused on improving the user experience with intuitive navigation options to help users find information more easily. It also features a geo-filtering option to quickly sort the most relevant updates for location.
