COVID-19 Update
As of today, all of us are still healthy and the office is business as usual. And we just received a notice from the NSSF stating that Arizona Governor Doug Ducey has confirmed that firearm and ammunition suppliers and retailers have been deemed "essential" and will be able to remain open and operating. So we will be able to continue processing and shipping orders as normal. That said, a few products are proving difficult to resupply due to shortages and delays from manufacturers.

Q: My Dillon Powder Measure isn't metering powder XYZ accurately enough. What can I do to improve it?

A: I receive calls on this almost weekly. The short answer is to read our Tips File #1: "26 Tips for Powder Measure Accuracy". But there are a few key modifications that can go a long way toward achieving your powder drop accuracy goal.

1. Polish the interior of your powder measure body. Just the funnel shape immediately below where the clear powder hopper tube attaches. I've had customers that have done no other modifications and reported that this alone made a measurable difference.
2. Install a better powder baffle (e.g. our Precision Powder Baffle). A better Powder Baffle is one of the "biggest bang for the buck" upgrades you can do!
3. Eliminate backlash in the powder bar adjusting bolt. The fit of the threads between the bolt and the powder bar insert can be very sloppy. Installing a coil spring on the adjusting bolt will put an outward preload on the powder bar insert. This is a very simple and inexpensive bandaid to the problem. But you can do even better by installing a Micrometer Powder Bar Kit™ … and not only eliminate the backlash but also get finer adjustments and numerical indexing. It is a more expensive upgrade, but ultimately worth the investment.

There are many additional tweaks you can make (as outlined in the Tips file), but these three have consistently proven to be the "big three" and what I recommend every customer to try first.
