Chair's Message

Dear Colleagues,

In this Thanksgiving month, I share with you my gratitude in being a member of our department. As we continue to aim for excellence, growth, and discovery, grounding our ambitions in thankfulness and appreciation of each other will take us farther and longer.

Being thankful frees us to be kind to ourselves. It also sets us to be respectful to our colleagues - something I expect of all of us, all the time.

This month I had the chance to join the Parkland Psychiatry Services Town Hall. I was highly impressed by the complexity of our services, how well integrated they are, and the ambitious plans to serve more of our sickest patients. I am grateful to Parkland behavioral health learners, clinicians, and leaders, and I hope we continue to drive and grow our academic mission in education and research within the complexity of clinical services.

I also had the chance to attend the Psychology Annual Fall Social. It was terrific to see the breadth of activities and the collegial commitment of our trainees and teachers. The large size of the division did not diminish the sense of warmth and individual attention as evident by the many awards, publications, grants, and the clinical and education impact within our system and beyond.

As I wish you a joyful time with your loved ones during this upcoming holiday, I hope you share your gratitude with your teams as well - every day.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Cheers,

Tarek K. Rajji
