Utah Food Industry / Utah Retail Merchants COVID-19 Update Call

I know everyone is being inundated with emails and conference calls regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. So I apologize for adding another one to your schedules. However, I have heard from a number of retail organizations that they are in desperate need of additional workers as the consumer demand at many retailers has spiked. Over the past couple of days the association has been working with a number of Utah industry organizations and Utah’s Department of Workforce Services to work on some solutions that will help match up the workers that are being laid off in many industries (restaurants, entertainment, etc.) with our members' organizations that are looking for temporary workers. This feels like a good match because it would provide our retailers with the ability to flex their workforces up as we need people and then as we return to normalcy many of these workers would be able to return to their previous jobs.

We will be hosting a conference call on  Monday morning (March 23rd) at 8:30 AM MDT where we will address potential solutions for the staffing issue as well as provide updates on several other COVID-19 related items the association staff has been working on with government officials.
