UTILITY WORK TO AFFECT NIGHTTIME TRAFFIC ON
SOUTH WITCHDUCK ROAD AT I-264 INTERCHANGE
VIRGINIA BEACH –  As construction continues on the I-64/I-264 Interchange Improvements Project, motorists should plan for nightly detours on South Witchduck Road northbound near the I-264 interchange to allow for crews to safely complete utility work.

Beginning as early as the week of June 8, on Monday through Saturday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., contractor crews with the Virginia Department of Transportation will close the left turn lane from South Witchduck Road northbound to the I-264 east on-ramp. Motorists wishing to access I-264 east during this time will be diverted north to Virginia Beach Boulevard and Independence Boulevard to I-264 east.

Additionally, the straight and left movements at the I-264 east off-ramp at Witchduck Road (exit 16) will be closed, preventing access to South Witchduck Road southbound in this location. Motorists heading southbound will be diverted down to Independence Boulevard (exit 17) to Virginia Beach Boulevard to access Witchduck Road southbound.

This work is expected to continue for approximately four weeks, as weather and schedule allow.
