  • DEA Extends Flexibility Around In-Person Requirement until Dec. 31, 2024: The Drug Enforcement Administration and the Department of Health and Human Services proposed allowing doctors to prescribe controlled substances through telemedicine, without meeting patients in person. To ensure continuous care during the COVID-19 pandemic, exceptions were made to regulations, allowing doctors to form new relationships with patients without in-person visits until Nov. 11, 2023. After reviewing feedback from telemedicine sessions, these exceptions have been extended until Dec. 31, 2024, for new doctor-patient relationships.

  • UETN provides a secure data backup and archival service based on the Rubrik Enterprise platform. The service is available to both Education and Healthcare customers and allows for regular backups of customer data to our main Salt Lake City data center. The service is offered free of charge for the first 5 terabytes (TB) of storage. UTN now has four healthcare customers using the service and we expect more customers to onboard the platform in the next 12 to 24 months.  To learn more about this product or to sign up and start using it, please reach out to Marz Cesarini at marz@utn.org.
Matt McCullough, Utah Telehealth Network's director, has left UTN to take a position as the Rural Hospital Improvement Director at the Utah Hospital Association.
Matt has been a tremendous force in increasing the relevance and visibility of UTN’s role in telehealth and positioned the NRTRC as a leading resource nationally. "He has assembled a phenomenal team, and he has been a valuable part of UETN’s leadership team," said Spencer Jenkins, Utah Telehealth Network executive director.
