Dear Members and Friends,
The UUCM Finance Committee are asking you to consider the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) as one of the special causes you support at this holiday time of year.
As most of you know, the UUA is the central organization for the UU movement, with National Headquarters in Boston MA. They bring all 1,000+ UU congregations together for a General Assembly (GA) every year where ideas and best practices can be shared. They fight for UU values on national and international issues.
We use many UUA resources locally at UUCM.
- Their guidance and best practices on worship and Congregation preparation in this pandemic period allowed us a running start for both online worship and building security.
- Their guidance and resources helped us to hire our new minister this past year, and ensured that our minister and other qualifying employees can participate in many benefits available only at much larger organizations than ours.
- When times are normal our Religious Education, both training and course materials, is based upon the UUA developed resources.
- The UUA also sends all our members the UU World magazine full of ideas and stories about congregations making a difference.
- There are many additional resources that we have not mentioned.
While using these resources, many of you also know that we have been unable to contribute our sustaining dues amount, our “Fair Share”, to help fund the UUA. This does not prevent the UUA from supporting us, but our lack of contribution is not helpful to the UUA's finances.
The per member Fair Share amount is approximately $91.00 each. We know that 2020 has been a hard year for many and we ask that you consider a contribution only if your finances will allow. Please send the contribution payable to “UUCM”, with the comment of “UUA Fair Share”.
Thank You, for considering this important aspect of our UU values.
