Opportunity for Good:
Do you know someone who may not have completed the US Census? Perhaps a housecleaner or gardener who may be undocumented. Urge them to do so now; help them to go online at my2020census.gov or call (844-330-2020) before October 30th. For every person who does not complete the census, our social service agencies collectively lose $10,000 over 10 years.
Our Next Service on October 18th:
Join us on October 18th as David Marsland discusses "Climate Action: We Can Overcome Climate Change." Most of us are well aware of the effects of climate change and somewhat aware of the causes. More importantly, what can we do individually and collectively to reduce the magnitude and impact of climate change? Let's talk about taking Climate Action together.

David Marsland participates in UU Coastside along with his wife Verna Barrientos. David has been active in climate leadership since 2006. After seeing "An Inconvenient Truth" for the third time at a Sierra Club event, David signed up to be Global Warming chair for the Guadalupe group of the Loma Prieta Chapter. David co-led Cool Cities San José, the Sierra Club's campaign to solve global warming one city at a time. In 2009 David traveled to Copenhagen to attend the COP-15 Climate Conference. Our musicians for that day will be Shauna Pickett-Gordon, piano, and Mo Robinson, folk guitar.

Spirituality:
Join us on October November 1st as Clovice Lewis Jr. discusses “Spirituality for Unitarian Universalists.” In the decades since the Unitarians and Universalists merged, the UUA has developed into a society of local congregations that focus primarily on liberal social, political, environmental, and gender-related issues. The influence of secular humanism, while still strong, has diminished somewhat with the rise of postmodernism. Clovice Lewis Jr.'s sermon explores why adding more spirituality into the mix might be good for Unitarian Universalists.

Thank you!
Taking a moment to thank our amazing Technical Director, Bruce Rafnel.
In addition to running Zoom services for first Sundays, Bruce has patiently guided our software users through challenges, written and taught mini-courses tailored to specific needs, helped design UUCC's file system, and recommended best practices. He records our first and third Sunday services and then adds hours of editing. Bruce is currently working on getting UUCC's YouTube channel populated with past services. If you'd like to help him, send us an email! And please hit the Subscribe button to our YouTube Channel.
