Touchstones Theme for September: Worth and Dignity
Join us on September 20th for a timely conversation about getting Unitarian Universalism on the right side of race. In a homily entitled “The Beloved Journey,” Bill Heavlin contemplates the text and subtext of the proposed 8th UU Principle. Our beloved musicians that day are pianist Shauna Pickett-Gordon and guitarist Mo Robinson.
Bill "can 'unpack' a Principle like no one else I have heard."
—Connie Spearing
8th UU Principle (draft): “We, the member congregations of the Unitarian Universalist Association, covenant to affirm and promote: journeying toward spiritual wholeness by working to build a diverse multicultural Beloved Community by our actions that accountably dismantle racism and other oppressions in ourselves and our institutions.”

Touchstones Theme for October:
Emotional Intelligence:
Join us on October 4th to explore the theme of Emotional Intelligence. If we want to live a good life, we must weave intelligence and emotion together. Learning to do this is powerful. The Rev. Kirk Loadman-Copland will speak on “The Wisdom of our Emotions.” Rev. Kirk is the co-editor of the Touchstones Project which we use for our services.

A special thanks to Shauna Pickett-Gordon and Drew Wilson for populating the hymns for UUCC services. Mixing individual files of many voices is no easy task. To accomplish this feat, a base music track is recorded and a lead vocal track is added. The base track is then sent out to both UUCC and MPUUC singers who record their own voices at home while listening to the base track through headphones. All tracks are recorded and edited with the Audacity computer application. The result gives the experience that we are meeting in person, even though all the singers were recording their voices separately in their own homes, giving us a semblance of that connection and creation that comes with singing together in the same physical space. UUCC has a backlog of recorded services we'd love to upload to our YouTube channel, which is just waiting for the right person to develop it.
Among other tasks, we need to have release forms signed by our musicians and guest speakers.
