News from the UUCF Library: With the building reopened, and as we near the library's official launch, we are happy to introduce our Little Free Library, located by the front door. It will house extra copies and overflow book donations. Feel free to take a book or two and continue to check back as we'll be updating it regularly.

Donation Yoga for Advancing Beginners: Tuesdays, 10 - 11 AM (Chapel). One of the best ways we can stay resilient and healthy is to exercise and cultivate mindfulness. These donation classes with E-RYT 200 Irene Glasse are open to individuals fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (two weeks past their last vaccination). Masks are not required but you are, of course, welcome to wear one. An Advancing Beginners class is most accessible to people who have some basic familiarity with yoga and are able to comfortably take low lunge (lunge with one foot forward and the back knee touching the mat), tabletop, warrior two and other foundational yoga poses. Previous classes can be viewed here.

Joys and Sorrows
In Loving Memory of Brian Johnston: We are saddened to share that Brian, a friend of UUCF, died on Tuesday, July 20 from suicide. He will be deeply missed. And in the wake of such loss, it can be important to remember that multiple things can be true: no single act can portray a life. No matter how stalked by difficulty and hurt at certain times, Brian’s life also had so many moments of delight and happiness, caring and friendship, sharing and love. Even as we deeply grieve this loss, may we also open ourselves to gratitude for the better days and weeks and years that those of us who knew Brian were able to share with him. Please keep Brian and his family in your thoughts and/or prayers. Condolences can be sent to:

Dark Moon Drum Circle: Saturday, August 8, 7:00 pm. This will be an outdoor, drumming circle in the Labyrinth. The event will be canceled in the event of rain. As per the CDC guidelines, if you are vaccinated you can wear a mask or not as you like. If you are not vaccinated you must wear a mask.

Earth-centered Spirituality Service: Sunday, August 9, 12:00 pm August sees our Earth Service return to an in-person gathering at the UUCF. We will be meeting in the Chapel at noon. This time provides an opportunity to focus on the Sixth Source of Unitarian Universalism: “Spiritual teachings of earth-centered traditions which celebrate the sacred circle of life and instruct us to live in harmony with the rhythms of nature.”This service will be led by Raven. We are also going to try to stream it on Zoom, but there are some signal challenges when it comes to using the Chapel. Keep an eye on the Frederick CUUPS Facebook page for the Zoom link.
