Joys & Sorrows

Tom Moore has been living with depression for more than two years after a bicycling accident and treatment for irregular heartbeat. He was hospitalized again in August with minor injuries, and is currently in physical rehab at Autumn Lake Healthcare (347 Ballenger Center Dr, Frederick, MD 21703). He welcomes visitors, but please call or text in advance to confirm a mutually convenient time: 301-845-6725.

Sue Thomson: On Sunday, September 18, Sue fell again and broke her arm in a different place. She is currently at Frederick Health Hospital. She welcomes text or visits. Before visiting, please text or call her (240-818-8899) to confirm a mutually convenient time.

#UUtheVote Before November 8 Elections: To be added to our special “Good Trouble” weekly reminder list, or to add your electoral justice activity, email Intern Minister Kathryn at [email protected]. As the late Congressman John Lewis said “Never, ever be afraid to make some noise and get in good trouble, necessary trouble.”

Join us after the Service on Sunday in Rooms 113/115 for a Pizza & Postcards Party!

Please contact Intern Minister Kathryn if you’d like to attend this event or for more information—and make sure to let her know what you do for electoral justice, so we can add your actions to our tally!

Both SAC (our Social Action Committee) and DRT (our Dismantling Racism Team) support this important effort by encouraging members and friends to accept the challenge to participate by responding to yesterday’s congregation-wide email notice of the Pizza and Postcards Party at 11:45 am on Sunday, September 25  following the 10:30 service.

By responding to the notice you can also indicate your interest in receiving weekly #UUtheVote reminder emails between now and November 8. Become a part of this important effort!

Revising UU Principles & Sources:

Article II Study Commission Draft Feedback Sessions

We’re scheduling ten Zoom sessions at various times for people to look at draft language and discuss it. Another round of revision will follow, with more feedback sessions in late October/early November. You'll need to register to attend a session. When you do, you'll get the draft via email. We look forward to hearing from you as we help chart the future of our faith together!

Zoom Session Registration (click on the day/time to register):

We have yard signs and postcards for you! Designed by Susie Spangler, a local UU artist and member of UU Congregation of Rockville, the yard signs are just $5/each and come with the wire stand. Please email Emily Untermeyer at [email protected] to place your order. We only have 100 left, so first come, first serve until we have to order more!
