"Just Jane: A Spiritual Odyssey"

Rev. Jane Page

Rev. Jane will share snapshots and stories of her spiritual journey from 1950 to 2026. It's a doozy!

"Celebrate Rev. Jane"

Beth Stevenson

Join us for a celebration of Rev. Jane Page's ministry. Food, music and a chance to enjoy each other and send Rev. Jane into her retirement with joy and love. Be part of this important milestone at UUCG.

Since my decision in October to retire on June 30, 2026, I’ve found myself often saying “This is my last time …..” These include my last Annual Meeting as your minister, my last Christmas Pageant, my last MLK Sermon, my last Easter sermon, etc. Now with May approaching, I find myself preparing for my last “Ask Rev. Jane" Question Box sermon on May 3 and my last sermon as your minister on May 17, when I will share my spiritual journey from 1950-2026. I will still serve as worship leader a couple of times in June – but it’s really winding down fast. What a wonderful opportunity this has been for me to serve you for the last 12 years. I hope to see you in May as we prepare to end this chapter on our journey.

Lots of LOVE to all!

Rev. Jane

UUCG’s Adult Forum is designed to encourage discussion by sharing our stories and wisdom so we may “learn more about being human.” We meet on the first Sunday of the month to reinforce the “warmth of community” that calls us to attend church. Think of us as an adult Sunday School class, and join in!

UUCG - Bill Phillips Forum Room

Topic: What’s on your Mind?

Join us curious and engaged UUs for a general discussion before the service. This is an opportunity to share what’s on your mind and in your heart. You’re invited to share an article, a poem, song lyrics, a book review, or talk about something interesting that you observed.

As a "family size church" we tend to know everyone and know people who could use a chance to connect -- find time this month to make a quick phone call this week to someone you have not had a chance to talk to in a while. Or, consider inviting someone to lunch. We are all part of the UUCG Caring Team.

Many thanks to Vickie Monti for our guest book. Please help our greeters by asking visitors to sign the guest book. The Caring Team would like to reach out and welcome people.

Do you or someone you know need to be mentioned in the Caring Circle or need a call from a trained Caring Team member?

No information is shared without permission. Our general Caring Team number is 912-222-6103.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM APRIL

The congregational discussion on March 29 generated a large number of great ideas, questions, and suggestions regarding the minister search process. The Congregational Listening Team is working to organize and review this input so that it can be reported out and used to finalize a congregational self-assessment. The Ministerial Search Committee will use the input to guide the search process. Answers to Post-it Note questions from the discussion session will also be finalized and sent out by email.

There will be additional discussion sessions (small group) over the next month. A schedule will be announced soon.

As noted in last Thursday's blast, the final survey response rate was about 80%. Again, thanks to everyone who replied for taking the time to respond! The Listening Team is organizing the data to prepare a report for the congregation.

We appreciate your continued support as we move forward with this search!

Welcome to new members Jim Finklea, Jane Haubrich and Teresa Laxamana. They all signed the membership book in the past month and will be honored in a joining ceremony on Easter Sunday. We are honored to have them become members of the Unitarian Universalists of Coastal Georgia. Look for their pictures in the new member area in the social hall.

We need more Greeters!

This is the best start to volunteering -- you just need a smile and to extend a warm welcome on Sunday mornings. Let Beth Stevenson know if you are interested in helping as a Greeter. Call or text 404-824-5562.

Are you thinking about becoming a UUCG member? Or, do you have questions about membership?  Contact Beth Stevenson (404-824-5562) or Rev. Jane for information about membership.

We are in need of volunteers to be greeters or to help with after service hospitality (coffee, tea and treats). Let Beth Stevenson (404-824-5562) know if you are interested in helping out.

These are both great ways to get to know UUCG and meet members and visitors.

MAY 17 BOOK

1929: Inside the Greatest Crash in Wall Street History--and How It Shattered a Nation

by Andrew Ross Sorkin

“The ordinary human being does not live long enough to draw any substantial benefit from his own experience. And no one, it seems, can benefit by the experiences of others. Being both a father and teacher, I know we can teach our children nothing…Each must learn its lesson anew.” —Albert Einstein, October 26, 1929

JUNE BOOK

Up from Slavery: An Autobiography

by Booker T. Washington

“In 1856, Washington was born into a family of slaves in Virginia. From there it seemed that his fate had been sealed to live out his life as a worker in Virginia. But, this was not the case for Washington, whose impoverished childhood and undying desire for education fueled him into a dedicated obsession with the Hampton Normal and Agricultural Institute until he found himself enrolled at the school itself."

We have many wonderful people who volunteer their talents to UUCG. There are numerous people who help make our surroundings comfortable (and working properly), provide programs of interest and refreshments that we enjoy.

In our sanctuary, we have a hearing loop to enhance listening.

It's available to people with hearing instruments equipped with a T-coil setting

and to persons with their own hearing loop receiver devices.

We are located at 1710 Gloucester Street - Brunswick, Georgia
