Sanctuary Meeting
Tuesday, December 11

What does being a sanctuary church look like from the perspective of the congregation? When we welcome the stranger, who stocks the kitchen and who does the laundry? Join us at 7pm on Tuesday, December 11 for a behind-the-scenes talk about sanctuary. There will also be an informal potluck at 6pm to welcome our speakers, all are welcome to bring a dish to share. Members of the First Parish Unitarian Universalist church of Bedford will share how their congregation came to be a physical sanctuary, the logistics of hosting a guest, and what it means for regular people to put faith into action. Childcare will be provided.

Need a ride to the event? Contact LUUP member Mary Gatlin at [email protected] or call the church at 781-595-8836.

Please also read our Sanctuary Frequently Asked Questions handout to learn more about what it means for our church to choose to provide sanctuary.

Products for sale are obtained from Equal Exchange, a Massachusetts based cooperative distributor dedicated to encouraging small family farms that follow sound ecological practices. Bags of mittens, hats and scarves were picked up for delivery to Lynn Community Health Center following our Mitten Tree decorating during last Sunday's Worship Service.

Your generosity will be thanked as you help keep children and adults in need warm this winter! Thank you!

The Giving Tree

Our Giving Tree was set up in the church foyer this past Sunday, and there are only two ornaments left! Please consider giving a gift so no one is left out! Choose an ornament yourself or share with someone else!

All gifts should be wrapped and returned by December 16. Please affix the gift tag securely to your gift; it will be the only identifier to ensure it gets to the correct child.

This year's Giving Tree will provide gifts to families working with HopeWell. HopeWell Inc.'s mission is to support and uplift individuals through a blend of professional expertise, data-driven best practices, and one on one nurturing. Gifts will be for families in the Somerville office's Family Support and Stabilization program that serves families in the Greater Boston and North Shore area working with the Department of Children and Families and also the DDS parenting program that serves mothers and children experiencing developmental delay.

Thank you in advance for taking part in this giving opportunity.
