Sanctuary and I mmigratio n Justi ce
November 14

Join us on Wednesday, November 14th at 7pm to discuss the important issues of Sanctuary and Immigration Justice. The L ynn Unitarian Universalist Partnership (LUUP) and the Social Justice Ministry Team will host the meeting.

Special guests Aviva Herr-Welber, Essex County Community Organization (ECCO) Sanctuary Coordinator, and Isabel Lopez, Immigration Advocate will speak from their professional perspectives followed by Q&A.

This is a critical conversation as we discern our congregational role and we're asking everyone to make a strong effort to attend. Light refreshments will be offered. Childcare will be provided.

LUUP to Lead the Congregation in our Sanctuary Discernment Process

After much deliberation, the Lynn Unitarian Universalist Partnership (LUUP) has chosen to explore expanding our partnership with the Essex County Community Organization (ECCO) and other partner organizations and lead the process to discern whether UUCGL can become a sanctuary congregation. Many of you have questions about what providing sanctuary involves and what it means for our church. We would appreciate hearing these questions as we prepare a robust calendar of informational events and listening sessions for the year ahead. For a brief introduction to the notion of sanctuary and UU involvement in this work, see this excerpt from the UUA Sanctuary Toolkit . In the meantime, we encourage you to send any questions, comments, and suggestions to the LUUP and the board of trustees at [email protected] - p lease include the word "sanctuary" in the subject line.

November 50/50 Sunday Offertory:
Greater Lawrence Disaster Relief Fund

The Social Justice Ministry Team has chosen to support the Greater Lawrence Disaster Relief Fund with our November 50/50 Sunday offerings. In response to the overwhelming needs facing 7,500 households and businesses impacted by the September 13, 2018 over-pressurization of the low pressure gas pipeline in Andover, North Andover and Lawrence, this fund was established by local leaders and will support short- and long-term shelter and sustenance needs. It is being supported by donations from Columbia Gas and generous members of the community.

Please make checks payable to Greater Lawrence Disaster Relief Fund/ECCF. The Social Justice Ministry Team will match donations up to $500. Thank you for your generosity.

Covenant Group is open to anyone from the church interested in learning about and experiencing small group ministry. Gatherings are 11:45 a.m.-1:00 p.m. in the "Faces" classroom,  the 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month. If you are interested in joining this group, or even just sitting in to see if you like it, please speak to Lyssa Andersson or Suzanne Forgione. Dialogue Group

"Dialogue" is a way of practicing deep listening that enables us to share personal experiences and thoughts in a way that collectively builds a more expansive understanding of ourselves and the world around us. We move from reaction to connection. The dialogue is preceded by a short "discursive meditation." Dialogue and the discursive meditation are part of the method of Cafh, a path of spiritual unfolding. For information about Cafh: www.cafh.org; the discursive meditation: http://www.seedsofunfolding.org/issues/08_11/inspiration.htm  and dialogue, http://seedsofunfolding.org/issues/04_06/features_1.htm   and
