November 50/50 Sunday Offertory:
Greater Lawrence Disaster Relief Fund
The Social Justice Ministry Team has chosen to support the Greater Lawrence Disaster Relief Fund with our November 50/50 Sunday offerings. In response to the overwhelming needs facing 7,500 households and businesses impacted by the September 13, 2018 over-pressurization of the low pressure gas pipeline in Andover, North Andover and Lawrence, this fund was established by local leaders and will support short- and long-term shelter and sustenance needs. It is being supported by donations from Columbia Gas and generous members of the community.
Please make checks payable to Greater Lawrence Disaster Relief Fund/ECCF. The Social Justice Ministry Team will match donations up to $500. Thank you for your generosity.

Sharing Our Sunday Offerings
One charitable organization or cause will be chosen each month; each Sunday our offertory will benefit both the church and the charity. How this works:
Cash: All cash in the Sunday collection is split 50/50 between the church and the current charity.
Cash Offering Envelopes: Envelopes on the usher's table, with a check-off list on the front, can be use to designate a cash donation to the church, the charity, or 50/50.
To donate only to the charity - make checks payable to the charity, as listed in the charity's description in the Weekly Update and the Sunday Order of Service Announcements.
To split your donation between the church and the charity - make checks payable to UUCGL with 50/50 on the memo line.
To pay your pledge only - make checks payable to UUCGL with pledge on the memo line.
This information can be found in the Announcements section printed in each Sunday's Order of Service.

Upcoming Events
Sanctuary and Immigration Justice
November 14
Join us on Wednesday, November 14th at 7pm to discuss the important issues of Sanctuary and Immigration Justice. The Lynn Unitarian Universalist Partnership (LUUP) and the Social Justice Ministry Team will host the meeting.
Special guests Aviva Herr-Welber, Essex County Community Organization (ECCO) Sanctuary Coordinator, and Isabel Lopez, Immigration Advocate will speak from their professional perspectives followed by Q&A.
This is a critical conversation as we discern our congregational role and we're asking everyone to make a strong effort to attend. Light refreshments will be offered. Childcare will be provided.
LUUP to Lead the Congregation in our Sanctuary Discernment Process
After much deliberation, the Lynn Unitarian Universalist Partnership (LUUP) has chosen to explore expanding our partnership with the Essex County Community Organization (ECCO) and other partner organizations and lead the process to discern whether UUCGL can become a sanctuary congregation. Many of you have questions about what providing sanctuary involves and what it means for our church. We would appreciate hearing these questions as we prepare a robust calendar of informational events and listening sessions for the year ahead. For a brief introduction to the notion of sanctuary and UU involvement in this work, see this excerpt from the UUA Sanctuary Toolkit . In the meantime, we encourage you to send any questions, comments, and suggestions to the LUUP and the board of trustees at luup@uucgl.org - p lease include the word "sanctuary" in the subject line.

Recurring Events

Covenant Group

Covenant Group is open to anyone from the church interested in learning about and experiencing small group ministry. Gatherings are 11:45 a.m.-1:00 p.m. in the "Faces" classroom,  the 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month. If you are interested in joining this group, or even just sitting in to see if you like it, please speak to Lyssa Andersson or Suzanne Forgione. We encourage visitors to try it out for at least three consecutive sessions to get a real feeling for the group. One need not be a UUCGL member, or even a Unitarian Universalist to join a covenant group here.
Dialogue Group
"Dialogue" is a way of practicing deep listening that enables us to share personal experiences and thoughts in a way that collectively builds a more expansive understanding of ourselves and the world around us. We move from reaction to connection. The dialogue is preceded by a short "discursive meditation." Dialogue and the discursive meditation are part of the method of Cafh, a path of spiritual unfolding. For information about Cafh: www.cafh.org; the discursive meditation: http://www.seedsofunfolding.org/issues/08_11/inspiration.htm  and dialogue, http://seedsofunfolding.org/issues/04_06/features_1.htm   and
The Dialogue Group meets the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month at 11:45 a.m. All are welcome when able to attend. Contact Ron Fishman at ronroyfish@aol.com for more information.
