October 50/50 Sunday Offertory:
UUA Disaster Relief Fund

The Denominational Connections Ministry Team has chosen the UUA Disaster Relief Fund as recipient of this month's 50/50 Sunday Worship Service offerings.

Recent hurricanes have hit the Southern region hard, contributions now will be very helpful and much appreciated.

We know that long after the initial clean-up, real recovery can take months or years. The UUA stands with its congregations and is ready to provide assistance to help congregations in repairing any damage, and to support them in responding to the needs of their members' and their community's efforts to get back on its feet.

The Disaster Relief Fund disburses grants to UU congregations and affiliated UU entities. Disaster relief grantees have reported feeling held in care and more connected to other UU congregations and to the UUA as a whole.

Please make checks payable to the UUA Disaster Relief Fund. Thank you for your generosity.

Paddle the Ipswich River!
Saturday, October 27, 3:00-5:15 p.m.

143 County Rd, Ipswich

Join the Green Sanctuary Ministry Team for a relaxed, fun, and family-friendly paddle from Ipswich River Watershed Association headquarters at Riverbend, right on the river in Ipswich. It is perfect for all ages and levels of paddling experience. You will have the opportunity to learn basic paddling skills, from the proper way to hold a kayak paddle to different ways to steer your canoe. You will enjoy a leisurely late afternoon paddle down the river in pond-like conditions and experience the beauty of the river's wildness and maybe even see some of our resident wildlife, from beavers to turtles to egrets. They have canoes and kayaks that you may use for free (18 total) or you may BYOB (Bring Your Own Boat). You must register in advance at [email protected] or 978-412-8200 and indicate if you need a boat and which type you prefer. Many people say this is the most beautiful and least frequented part of the Ipswich River. Check it out. Connect with nature. Connect with the Green Sanctuary Ministry Team 2018 theme of "Fresh Water - Rivers, Ponds & Wetlands". Thanks to Ipswich River Watershed Association for making this outing possible and FREE. ipswichriver.org   .

News Worth Noting

LUUP to Lead the Congregation in our Sanctuary Discernment Process

After much deliberation, the Lynn Unitarian Universalist Partnership (LUUP) has chosen to explore expanding our partnership with the Essex County Community Organization (ECCO) and other partner organizations and lead the process to discern whether UUCGL can become a sanctuary congregation. Many of you have questions about what providing sanctuary involves and what it means for our church. We would appreciate hearing these questions as we prepare a robust calendar of informational events and listening sessions for the year ahead. For a brief introduction to the notion of sanctuary and UU involvement in this work, see this excerpt from the UUA Sanctuary Toolkit . In the meantime, we encourage you to send any questions, comments, and suggestions to the LUUP and the board of trustees at [email protected] - p lease include the word "sanctuary" in the subject line.

Covenant Group is open to anyone from the church interested in learning about and experiencing small group ministry. Gatherings are 11:45 a.m.-1:00 p.m. in the "Faces" classroom,  the 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month. If you are interested in joining this group, or even just sitting in to see if you like it, please speak to Lyssa Andersson or Suzanne Forgione. We encourage visitors to try it out for at least three consecutive sessions to get a real feeling for the group. One need not be a UUCGL member, or even a Unitarian Universalist to join a covenant group here.

Dialogue Group

"Dialogue" is a way of practicing deep listening that enables us to share personal experiences and thoughts in a way that collectively builds a more expansive understanding of ourselves and the world around us. We move from reaction to connection. The dialogue is preceded by a short "discursive meditation." Dialogue and the discursive meditation are part of the method of Cafh, a path of spiritual unfolding. For information about Cafh: www.cafh.org; the discursive meditation: http://www.seedsofunfolding.org/issues/08_11/inspiration.htm  and dialogue, http://seedsofunfolding.org/issues/04_06/features_1.htm   and
