"The National DNA"
Rev. Dr. Victoria Weinstein, Worship Leader
| Memorial Day prompts reflections on the shared “genes” all Americans have inherited. How do we acknowledge our national DNA as we try to build a healthier society? | | | |

We encourage the wearing of masks when we are together. Masks are an easy and simple way to minimize worry over sharing germs as we enjoy each other’s company. For those of you who would like to maintain social distance in the sanctuary (which has several air filters running), the front side of the sanctuary by the wooden Lydia Breed sculpture is reserved for you. (See diagram here)
Our Beach Service is scheduled for June 18, Father’s Day. This is a treasured tradition for UUCGL, and Rev. Vicki would like to know if you can provide music. It would be very fun to have a variety of folks lead us in song or musical meditation.

This Sunday our Neighboring Faith class will have their final visit of the year! The group will gather outside the front entrance of our church at 10am and carpool over to visit the wonderful Sanghikaram Wat Khmer Buddhist Temple, on Chestnut St. in Lynn. They will return back to UUCGL by noon. Please RSVP with Rev. Chris to coordinate rides.
Our PreK-5th graders will begin outside as well, in the wooded area enclosed by fencing off the walkway to our first parking lot: “The Gathering Place.”

The UUA has suggested major revisions to Article II of our Bylaws, which includes the 7 Principles. If you are invested in the Seven Principles as a defining statement of UU identity, please let Rev. Vicki know your thoughts on voting to approve the proposed amendments, found on page 19 of this study. As a delegate to GA who will be voting on this matter in June, she would like to know the congregation's opinions.
Thank you to those of you who have pledged thus far! Everyone’s financial support is essential for keeping our physical space in prime shape and putting our Vision of Ministry into action. Please pledge as soon as you can so we are able to finalize the budget for the next fiscal year. HERE'S HOW to make your 2023-24 pledge!

The Pollinator Garden is Here!
Members of the Green Sanctuary Ministry Team planted the UUCGL pollinator garden last weekend. Organized by Trish Aldrich and Bruce Campbell, the group planted over 70 native plant seedlings in an area that was formerly lawn to the left of the church entrance. These plants, when mature, will support a diversity of pollinators, hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies, by providing nectar and insects to feed on. The 12 species planted include Rose Milkweed, Prairie Blazing Star, Showy Goldenrod, and Hairy Beardtongue. Check out the Green Sanctuary Page on our website to see the complete list!
You are invited to ECCO's annual Boat Cruise Fundraiser, the best social justice dance party of the summer! Join us for an evening of shmoozing, a DJ dance party, and cash bar/light refreshments with ECCO's vibrant and diverse community.
Our social justice partner ECCO (Essex County Community Organization) is having a fun fundraiser on Sunday, June 4th. ECCO does great work on systemic issues and of late has been focused on housing and affordability throughout Essex County. On immigration issues, they had a big success last fall, after years of work, on driver’s licenses for undocumented immigrants. It is a great organization to be a part of and to support.
There are a few ways to show support. UUCGL will be a sponsor of the event, and you could be too. Or better yet, you can buy a ticket and attend. In addition, you can buy an equity ticket – a ticket for an ECCO member who cannot afford the $50 ticket price but wants to join the celebration of ECCO’s good works.
The June 4th boat cruise is in Gloucester Harbor in time to see the sunset. Put on your dancing shoes (or not), but definitely buy your tickets HERE.
