"Spiritual Armor"

Rev. Dr. Victoria Weinstein, Worship Leader

The beautiful prayer for spiritual protection known as “The Breastplate of St. Patrick” gives us an opportunity to reflect on spiritual protection, what it is and how to engage with it. Bring a friend. Wear green.

A Message from Rev. Vicki

In the Spirit

I am still thinking about the many stories that were shared at our first “Have I Got A Story For You” event last weekend. It was creative, fun and heart-warming; a great fundraiser to bring people together and learn more about how interesting we are. I don’t remember who said, “Life is a great adventure or it is nothing,” but your stories reminded me that many of our adventures are internal — we travel long distances within ourselves to find out who we are and who we feel we are meant to be.

Having just walked Dibs through the neighborhood, I have to admit that I rather appreciate the dinginess of the season. Nothing is blooming yet, and all is dead grass, crumbling asphalt where the snowplows bashed in the curb, and bits of trash emerging from their long winter sleep under snow. "That feels about right, that matches my mood today," I say to myself as I watch Dibs happily sniff every fire hydrant and patch of grass. I am so sorry for the chaos, stress and callousness affecting so many of our community right now. I pray that we will continue to be there for each other looking for beauty, generating strength and mutual aid, and finding spring in our hearts as It returns to the earth.

In faith, hope and love,

Rev. Vicki

A Message from Rev. Chris

It is time to register to join in our annual Ferry Beach weekend retreat for all ages! It is so important to remember to stay grounded in our community and in ourselves, and to find and savor moments of joy, during these tumultuous times. This will be a great way to do so. Find all the details below in this newsletter.

This Sunday, children and youth will begin in the Skylight Room right at 10am. During that time, we will be putting together 100 dinner bags to accompany hot to go meals at My Brother’s Table, honoring St. Patrick’s Day, looking ahead towards Easter, and connecting all of this to how we understand our own faith as Unitarian Universalists. The group will also take a moment to reflect on the joy of their performance of “The Tortoise and the Hare” last Sunday during worship, as well!

If you come early for worship on Sundays, you may notice a class is going on before worship for the next few months in the Mural Room... READ MORE

"Service Sunday" is March 30

In lieu of a worship service during months that have a "5th Sunday" we gather on that day to make a difference in the larger community. For our "Service Sunday' in March we are planning to do another meal preparation. We will be preparing approximately 100 meals (in 9x13 pans) to be served at Lifebridge in Salem. We'll meet in the Fellowship Hall at 10am. The recipe hasn't been decided on yet (maybe enchiladas this time?) but stay tuned!! Everyone is welcome; please sign-up below if you would like to join us!

Annual Ferry Beach All-Church All-Ages Retreat Weekend

April 25-27 | Ferry Beach, Saco, ME

All are welcome! Unwind, find inspiration, and strengthen the bonds of community together at Ferry Beach this spring, with healthy & delicious food, and good coffee! There's something for everyone, including a sand volleyball court, two playgrounds, a fire pit, an outdoor chapel, and of course, the beach!

New this year is an opportunity to purchase dinner as an “add on” from their Dining Hall on Friday night from 6-7pm. If you are looking to reserve a private cottage for the weekend, you are encouraged to register ASAP as those spaces are limited. Most of our group will use the Rowland Dorm Building, which is more economical. Camperships are again available this year as we do not want money to be an obstacle to participating. Please reach out to Rev. Chris if that is something that would be helpful to you or if you have any questions.
