Reflection...Stewardship of Earth

"...the care of the earth is our most ancient and most worthy and,
after all, our most pleasing responsibility.
To cherish what remains of it, and to foster its renewal,
is our only legitimate hope."

- Wendell Berry

Sunday Service
Sunday, June 30
10:30 AM:    "Stewards of the Forest"
Mary Van Valin, Richard Miller c oordinators

A shortened indoor service will lead us outdoors for a  Ribbon Cutting Ceremony celebrating our woodlands, a new walking trail and those who have been longtime stewards planting, protecting, and loving trees.

We will pause to remember Clarence Kroupa for his many gifts of trees and dedicate a new bench in honor of Arlene Howe.

Children and Youth Religious Education Programs

PreK-5th grade and Youth (5th-8th grade) programs are available and
Nursery care for infants through age 4

This week in RE the children will continue to explore empathy.
They will form "compassion circles" and get to know each other based on questions such as:  "Do you have a pet?" or "Have you ever been bullied?"

" Other" becomes less when we make connections.

Honoring our first Native American Poet Laureate, Joy Harjo

Eagle Poem

To pray you open your whole self
To sky, to earth, to sun, to moon
To one whole voice that is you.
And know there is more
That you can't see, can't hear
Can't know except in moments
Steadily growing, and in languages
That aren't always sound but other
Circles of motion.
Like eagle that Sunday morning
Over Salt River.  Circles in blue sky
In wind, swept our hearts clean
With sacred wings.
We see you, see ourselves and know
That we must take the utmost care
And kindness in all things.
Breathe in, knowing we are made of
All this, and breathe, knowing
We are truly blessed because we
Were born, and die soon, within a
True circle of motion,
Like eagle rounding out the morning
Inside us.
We pray that it will be done
In beauty.
In beauty.
