Minister's Musings...
Dear Ones,
The president of the UUA has issued new guidance that congregations plan for virtual church through May 2021. UUA staff and president Susan Frederick Gray have consulted with multiple health experts before making this recommendation:
"We are guided by science and our deepest held values.
This pandemic teaches us that our actions directly impact the health and well-being of our neighbors..."
I am grateful for Susan's leadership and wisdom in this uncertain time. We will continue to improve our virtual services and find new and creative ways to continue to build beloved community and care for one another.
This is sobering news, but I want you to know that UUCGT's search for a new Settled Minister will continue as planned. UU congregations all over the country have had successful searches this year using virtual technology, and you will too. With clear guidelines in place, we can also plan creatively for the year ahead. Our Unitarian Universalist faith is so needed in this extraordinary time, and together we can be beacon of hope and love to our hurting world.
I am always available to answer questions or concerns, so please do not hesitate to call or email me.
In faith and love,
Cathy

Religious Education - Children
& Youth
9:45 AM Sunday Morning RE on Zoom
Last Sunday we gathered to connect, share, and discuss the mother figures in our lives. We learned about the history of Mother's Day and how it is celebrated around the world. The children made sweet cards for their mothers or others who mother them.
This coming Sunday we will learn about Vesak, a Buddhist holiday which celebrates the birth, enlightenment, and death of Gautama Buddha.
Vesak occured on May 7 this year.
For check-in this week, please bring something to represent new learning. It could be a science experiment, an object from nature, a book, or anything else that has led you to new learning.
I look forward to seeing many of you soon!
- Betsy
Note:
Zoom meeting link for Sunday Morning RE will be sent to families in a separate email. If you have a child who would like to attend the RE gathering and you did not receive the link, please contact Betsy at

LETTER FROM UUCGT's HEALTHY CONGREGATIONS TEAM
What has the UUCGT Healthy Congregations Team been up to?
This article builds on an article published in the May Beacon that strives to answer this question. We want your input and questions. We are working on a process to lead us through our journey to a Healthy Congregations System. We want to discuss how we ideally ARE with each other and share the three steps to guide what we DO with each other when conflict arises.
Below are the three steps of our proposed HEALTHY CONGREGATION GUIDELINES FOR THE HCT AND THE CONGREGATION AT LARGE. These will be voted on at our upcoming Annual Meeting on June 21, 2020.

2020 UUCGT Annual Meeting
Sunday, June 21 ~ 12:00 PM
The UUCGT Board of Trustees has set Sunday, June 21 at 12:00 pm as the date and time for the Congregation Annual Meeting.
This is two weeks later than our normal Annual Meeting, but gives us extra time to prepare for a meeting that will not be routine. We will likely hold the meeting using Zoom since we expect social distancing to still be the norm even if other restrictions have been lifted.
This will be a very important meeting in that we will be electing four members of the Search Team for our new Settled Minister.

End Note...
Sticking with that uncertainty,
getting the knack of relaxing in the midst of chaos,
learning not to panic --
this is the spiritual path.
