Please join your Board of Trustees for a Town Hall Meeting in the West Room, immediately following the service. We plan to discuss ministerial options that will be on the ballot in the mid-year meeting.
The 4th Sunday Forum meeting for January is cancelled due to the Town Hall meeting on the 22nd and Congregational Meeting on the 29th.
Tuesday January 24, 2023, between 4:30 and 6:00 pm

Chris and I have enjoyed the grocery card/equal exchange sales evenings and seeing everyone. We will continue to sell grocery cards/equal exchange items one evening per month, at least for the next couple months. We are thinking seriously about restarting full Sunday sales with someone selling cards on the bench – stay tuned. The coffee, tea and chocolate are also available for sale in Friendship Hall as was done in pre-pandemic times. If you see me at church and want some grocery cards, please ask me, I can usually accommodate requests after the service.
UUCNH benefits from you buying Giant Eagle and/or Kuhn’s Gift Cards at no extra expense to you! Both stores donate $5 to UUCNH for every $100 of gift card value sold. Mother Earth and small-scale farmers benefit when you buy Equal Exchange Fair Trade Coffee, Tea, and Chocolate.
It's easy to drive up and exchange a check or cash for gift cards and/or coffee, tea, chocolate. No need to leave your car – unless it’s raining or very cold, we’ll be outside by the curb. If not, beep your horn to get us to come outside! If you'd like to get an email reminder, just send an email to Joe Meier to get on the emailing list. Or just drive up to the next Grocery Card/Equal Exchange sale on the evening of Tuesday January 24, 2023, between 4:30 and 6:00 pm. Hope to see you there.
Friday, January 27th at 7:00 pm
Winter got you down? Join us in the warm and cozy West Room at 7:00pm on Friday, January 27th as we gather to unwind with friends and family, singing favorite songs to the strum of a guitar (or several), sipping steaming beverages, and nibbling on something sweet – all in the warm glow of a cheery “campfire.” No open flame (or RSVP) required! All are welcome.
For more information, contact TEAM FUN.
Sunday, January 29 after the service

Mid-Year Congregational Meeting, Sunday, January 29th, immediately following the service. As the energy in our community continues to build, it’s time to determine what’s next for us. Although our recent Mid-Year Meetings have not included a congregational vote, this one will, as we come together to determine the immediate and future direction of the ministry at UUCNH.

Proxy Form for January 29, 2023 mid-year meeting. A paper copy of the Proxy Form is available in the West Room located on the bookshelf.
Come Celebrate UUCNH becoming a
Green Sanctuary Congregation, Jan. 29th

Would you like to deepen connections and strengthen relationships with fellow members of our congregation? Please consider joining the newly relaunched UUCNH Covenant Groups. After 2 years of virtual only sessions, the Covenant Groups will return to the church for in person meetings.

Your Capital Campaign worker bees have not been dormant since the money raising portion of the campaign was completed – and remember, new pledges are always welcome. Another huge thank you to all those who have committed to financially supporting this important work. A Capital Campaign (CC) Project Team has been formed which includes Susie Wood, Diana Hull, Kurt Kuntz, Robyn Travers, Joe Meier, Dennis Doubleday, and Chris Hill. We are also tapping Don Nelson, Mark Swihart and Matt Ferry for occasional consulting services. We have been meeting, prioritizing, contacting contractors, meeting with contractors and generally trying to get our arms around the overall project and its many pieces.
At the congregational meeting on January 29, 2023, the CC Project Team will give a brief overview of where we are and our priorities going forward. Just as the money raising will take three years to complete – so the actual construction of all the many improvements will likely take as long, perhaps longer.
During the next couple Sundays (1/15 and 1/22), The CC Project would like to offer Capital Campaign Highlight tours to show anyone (and everyone) what and where the planned improvements are within the church building and on our grounds. If you’d like to take a tour, please contact Capital Campaign or see Joe Meier after the service.
After a successful Capital Campaign this past fall, we are thankful for the generous support, but our pledging needs for the year aren't over yet! We are urgently seeking members for the Stewardship Committee to shepherd our annual pledge drive, beginning in March. If you'd like more information, you can view the committee's CAR document or contact the Board of Trustees
The Share the Plate recipient for January will be Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh (HARP). According to their website, HARP is one of Pennsylvania's largest non-profit organizations dedicated to the welfare of animals, pet owners and the community. In addition to domestic adoption services, two low-cost veterinary centers, and community education programs, HARP runs the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, a fully licensed facility that cares for sick, injured and orphaned wildlife.
You may donate to STP by January 31st in the following ways: 1) Place cash or check in the BLUE envelope in the offering plate during Sunday services; 2) Mail a check to the church office; or 3) Go to the church website's Donation Page and select Special Offerings. Checks should be made payable to UUCNH, with "Share the Plate" or "HARP" in the memo line. If using the website Donation Page, please be sure to include the words "Share the Plate" and/or "HARP" when making your donation.

Share the Plate totals are not fully tabulated by the end of the month but will be shared when available. Thank you for your patience and your generosity!

Joy from Amy Terrizzi: An update on my Dad: He went in last Tuesday for a biopsy of the area that was found on his pancreas. The doctor couldn't find anything to biopsy! He goes at the end of the month for another CAT scan to be sure, but it is good news for now.
Note: There are times when you may not be able to share during a service, but want the Congregation to know what is on your heart. In that instance, just contact a member of the Lay Pastoral Care Team (LPCT) in person or submit your Joys & Sorrows electronically by clicking here. Once submitted, the form is sent to all LPCT members. (Chris Hill, Ruth Horwitz, Susan Powers, Lynn Richards, Lynne Herchenroether). Please be sure to submit your item by NOON on Saturday at the latest, so we get it in time for Service. Also, LPCT emails forward to all members of the team.
