Compassion is not Complicity: Seeing Humanity without Surrendering Justice
Rev. Lee Anne Washington
In this second of five services exploring the application of the First Principle in our relationships, Rev. Lee Anne explores how our First Principle calls us to honor every person’s dignity without surrendering truth or accountability. Drawing wisdom from Hebrew prophecy, Buddhist teaching, and Stoic philosophy, we’ll consider how compassion can be both tender and tough—love with a backbone.

Phishing Scam: Be Alert!
Other UU churches have reported that yet another phishing scam is making the rounds of churches in which scammers, sometimes posing as church members and employees, are asking for copies of directories of church members.
They are sending “spoof” e-mails that appear to be from church-affiliated people and are making phone calls that appear to be from the church’s telephone number. Scammers try to get directories either for doxing and harassment purposes or to sell the information on the black market.
No one from UUCNH will ask you to give them a directory or other confidential information, nor will anyone ask you to purchase gift cards for them. Please do not respond to these types of requests. If you need to contact someone, please use contact information that you already have from a trusted source.

Thank You from the Compassionate Service team!
Thank you to everyone at UUCNH who participated in our most recent collection of items for refugee families in collaboration with JFCS (Jewish Family Community Services).
We donated well over 100 hygiene items to refugee families participating in support groups and cultural orientation programs through the JFCS. On Thursday afternoon, Inga Burton-Smith and Lois Madden were able to deliver a carload of shampoo, bodywash, deodorant, toothpaste, socks, lotion, and laundry detergent to the JFCS offices.
Thank you for continuing to support refugee families in Pittsburgh. This was our SIXTH successful collection since November of last year!

Find information and sign-up form here. You can work at the poll of your choice the number of hours you choose!
