Our First Principle Across the Ages: Multigenerational Worth & Dignity

Rev. Lee Anne Washington

This Sunday, Rev. Lee Anne and Robyn Travers explore “Our First Principle Across the Ages: Multigenerational Worth & Dignity.” We’ll reflect on why honoring the inherent worth of every person means honoring every age, and how our Friday Family Fun Nights are shaping a more connected, vibrant community.

After a short message, Rev. Lee Anne and Robyn will sit down for a conversation with the congregation about building a church where children, youth, adults, and elders learn from one another. All are warmly encouraged to join the dialogue as we imagine what multigenerational spiritual life can become.

*A bonus handout with suggestions for difficult conversations around the Thanksgiving table will be provided with the order of service.

**The Craft Group’s sale will immediately follow the service.

Joys and Sorrows

A Joy and a Sorrow from Joyce Kepner:

This past week Nancy, Al and I were in Columbus, NC to celebrate Al's aunt's 96th birthday. We worked to move her from independent living to assisted care in her continuing care community. She will hopefully be in her new apartment next week.

Her sorrow:

My sister Janet Eickhoff passed away Saturday morning at the age of 89. She will be missed.

Note: When you want to share a joy or sorrow submit it electronically by clicking here by Saturday. Alternatively, you can fill out a card as you enter the sanctuary on Sunday.

October Bellwood Update

October at Bellwood is always filled with lots of excitement!

It's a busy month, which started with our semi-annual KidStuff Sale (KSS). The KSS is a win-win situation for all involved. Community members can sell their items and make some money and/or get some high-quality items at fantastic and deeply-discounted prices, Bellwood raises some much-needed funds to cover the ever-growing costs of running the school, and the church gets some visibility of people who may not know about us. Thank you for your kindness and patience as we took over the church for those days. A special thank you to Chris Hill, who I will forever be grateful for as he helps the parent volunteers set up and break down the sale!

Throughout October we explored the themes of family, pumpkins, and Halloween, culminating in our Halloween Parade, where families and friends joined us in the church while the children paraded through the West Room in their costumes and then sang some fall/Halloween songs.

Annual Holiday Craft Group Sale this Sunday! Also Sunday December 7th!

We make crafts and baked goods.

You buy them.

We help the church obtain off budget items.

***We’re low tech, cash or checks only please.***

Transforming Ourselves

Mitten Tree - Donations Wanted

On Sunday, December 7th, we will hear the story of The Mitten Tree (written by Candace Christiansen and illustrated by Elaine Greenstein).

A second tree in the sanctuary will be designated as our “Mitten Tree.” As you remember, please bring unwrapped new mittens scarves and socks to place on the boughs. Wrapped packages of men's and women’s underwear to go under the tree are also appreciated. There will be boxes and baskets to receive them. Our children and youth will decorate the Mitten Tree with your donations during the service on the 7th. These much-needed items will be delivered to a shelter after the holidays.
