Call for Questions about Buddhism

Dr. Qiong Wang, an acupuncturist and practitioner of oriental medicine, has agreed to talk with us about Buddhism on July 20th. She is a Buddhist and has found that many of her patients find inspiration hearing about her beliefs. (I’m one of them.)

She would rather not present a formal talk. She would prefer an informal question and answer format. So, if you have questions about Buddhism, please send them to sst@uucnh.org. We'll compile as many as we can for the service.

Thanks!

Randy

Share your wisdom with our bridging youth

Rev. Lee Anne and I would like to start a new tradition here at UUCNH. Our beloved congregation has so much experience and wisdom to share. Each year that we have youth bridging into adulthood, we hope that you will share those pearls at pearlsofwisdom@uucnh.org.

This year, please send your pearls of wisdom by June 1st and I will compile them into a small booklet for Gavin Connor. In years to come we will ask for your pearls in advance so that the booklet can be presented at the bridging ceremony.

In faith,

Robyn

Assisting Refugees -Thank you!

On May 16, Chuck Berry and Lois Madden delivered all of the items that were recently donated by members and friends of UUCNH to the JFCS (Jewish Family Community Services) as we partner with them to find new ways to support recently settled refugees in Pittsburgh. JFCS offered cultural orientation sessions to Afghan women and men on hygiene, mental health, women's health, and employment, and the items UUCNH donated were shared with the participants.

We Lived into Our Fifth Principle!

Thank you to everyone who donated food to our poll workers on Tuesday. They were very impressed with our hospitality.

We had an amazing spread for breakfast, with bagels, banana bread, fruit and veggies. Lunch was sloppy joe sliders with potato and macaroni salad. Dinner was barbeque baked chicken with left over chocolates from the craft sale for dessert.

I truly hope we can make this a tradition each year.

In faith,

Robyn
